NCU was founded in the 4th year of ROC (1915) in Nanking, the new capital city of the early government of the Republic of China, and adopted its name in 1928. NCU moved to Chungking in 1937 when Sino-Japanese War broke out and returned to Nanking in 1946. After the ROC lost control of mainland China, it was renamed as Nanjing University when occupied by the Communist Party of China in 1949, and the former campus has been used by Nanjing Institute of Technology which was later renamed Southeast University since Nanjing University relocated in 1952. The NCU Alumni Association in Taiwan applied for reinstatement of the university in three consecutive years starting from 1956 and was approved in 1958. After four years' preparation, National Central University was reinstated in Taiwan in 1962, first as the National Central University Graduate Institute of Geophysics, in Miaoli County. In 1968, NCU moved to its current location in the Shuanglianpo (雙連坡) district of Zhongli, Taoyuan County (now Zhongli District, Taoyuan City), Taiwan province and was renamed the National Central University College of Science. In 1979, it was officially reestablished under the name National Central University. In 2003, NCU and three other national universities established the University System of Taiwan cooperative partnership. Since American Secretary of State John Hay suggested that the US$30 million plus Boxer Rebellion indemnity money paid to the United States was excessive, in 1909, President Roosevelt then obtained congress approval to reduce the Qing Dynasty indemnity payment by $10.8 million USD, on the condition that the said fund was to be used as scholarship for Chinese students to study in the United States. Using this fund, the Tsinghua College (清華學堂 Qīnghuá Xuétáng) was established in Beijing, China, on 22 April 1911 on the site of a former royal garden belonging to a prince. It was first a preparatory school for students later sent by the government to study in the United States. The faculty members for sciences were recruited by the YMCA from the United States and its graduates transferred directly to American schools as juniors upon graduation. In 1925, the school established its College Department and started its research institute on Chinese Study.

In 1928, the authority officially changed its name to National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). During the Second World War in 1937, Tsinghua University with Peking University and Nankai University, merged to form Changsha Temporary University in Changsha, and later National Southwestern Associated University in Kunming of Yunnan province. After the war, Tsinghua moved back to Beijing and resumed its operation.

During the Sino-Japanese War, the library lost 200,000 of a total of 350,000 volumes.

In 1956, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) was reinstalled on its current campus in Hsinchu, Taiwan.Since its reinstallation, NTHU has developed from an institute focusing on Nuclear Science and Technology to that of a comprehensive research university offering degrees programs ranging from baccalaureate to doctorate in science, technology, engineering, humanities and social sciences, as well as management. NTHU has been consistently ranked as one of the premier universities in Taiwan and is widely recognized as the best incubator for future leaders in industries as well as academics. Such stellar records are particularly exemplified by the outstanding achievements of alumni, including two Nobel laureates in physics Dr. Chen-Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao Lee, one Nobel laureate in chemistry Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee and one Wolf Prize winner in mathematics Dr. Shiing-Shen Chern.

In recent decades, the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan has had increasingly close ties with the Tsinghua University in People's Republic of China (China). Of all universities on Taiwan, the NTHU has arguably one of the strongest cooperations with universities in mainland China in academic research, projects, and with the creation of programs such as the "Center for Contemporary China.

Selamat dan sukses kepada dua tim Fakultas Teknik UHN Medan yang akan berangkat ke Jerman dan Taiwan untuk melakukan penelitian.

Tim pertama adalah Charles S.P. Manurung,S.T.,M.T. (Dosen Prodi Teknik Mesin) dan Chilinton Hutabarat (mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Mesin).
Keduanya akan melakukan Research Collaboration 2019 di Jerman terhitung 17 Juni - 14 Juli 2019.
Penelitian ini diselenggarakan oleh Chemnitz University of Technology, Jerman, bekerja sama dengan Advanced Manufacturing Technology Excellence Center (AMTEx) UiTM Malaysia.

Tim kedua adalah Septiani Silitonga, Wandro Siregar, Frince Marbun (ketiganya mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Mesin) dan Rosmin Siadari (mahasiswa Prodi Teknik Sipil).
Mereka akan melakukan penilitian di National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan terhitung 30 juni - 1 September 2019.

Providence University was founded by an American congregation, the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Indiana, United States). In the summer of 1919, Bishop Joseph Tacconi of Kaifeng, Henan Province, Republic of China, met with Sisters of Providence general superior Mother Mary Cleophas Foley to request sisters for a school for young women in Kaifeng. In 1921 Mother Marie Gratia Luking (1885–1964) and five other Sisters of Providence founded the Hua-Mei Girls' Elementary and High Schools there, one of the first schools for girls in China. In the spring of 1929, the school was forced to close because of political turbulence.

The Providence Sisters, enthusiastic about female education, endeavored to establish another school in spite of the critical situation. In 1932, by the effort of the Board of Trustees, Ching-Yi Girls' High School was instituted in Kaifeng. Cardinal Paul Yü Pin was the first chairperson of the Board of Trustees, and Chi-Liang Ing was the first president of the school. In 1942, Mother Gratia and the other sisters were imprisoned and did not regain their freedom until 1945.
In 1948, the war between the Kuomintang Party and the Communist Party forced the sisters to retreat first to Shanghai and later to Taiwan.

In July 1989, it has turned into "Providence University for Women". From 1993, it turned into "Providence University", and started to enroll male students. (https://www.oia.pu.edu.tw/en/)
