IDIOM : S**T
"When the S**t hits the Fan"
Maybe if you translate it literally, you'll get that picture on your mind. Am I right? According to The Free Dictionary, "when the s**t hits the fan" means when the trouble begins or when the consequences of an action begin to be realized or the easiest way to say is when all hell breaks loose.

Good Morning, happy people.
let's learn about IDIOM.
Idiom is a group of words in a fixed order that have a particular meaning that is different from the meanings of each word on its own.

The point is, if you read or hear a sentence or a phrase that you can't swallow, sorry, comprehend the meaning literally, usually that is an idiom. Alternatively, it can be said that the phrase is interpreted in a figurative sense.

Idioms are vary in different cultures and countries. In English language, there are hundreds of idioms that you can find out there. Do you know the most interesting word which can be used to make idioms with different usage and various meaning? Yeah, this is the word, the notorious "S**T"
---- hahahhaha ---
S**T is originally a slang term for f***l matter now commonly used as an all-purpose exclamation, noun, verb, adjective or adverb. And you know what? "S**T" may just be the most powerful word in the English language.

TRUE STORY :
Suwarto - Kaskus

Strike to the point. I was around 24 years old when i took my first English course somewhere in Jakarta suburb. i had very poor vocabulary and grammar but strong ambition. so i took the placement test and i got terrible result. the institution placed me in basic level where bunch of teenagers studied and i was the oldest student in the class. the class took twice a week and 1.5 hours each session. well.. you can imagine how long do you need to improve your English in such limited time. i was fully aware about the condition and determined to set my own strategy. therefore i made a few step : 1. i must make myself well known in the class and in the institution. 2. i must make friend with smart and more experience students and the last one, 3. make friend with teachers and staffs. I am an easy going and friendly man, so there wasn't any problem for me to full fill all the plan.

less than 2 months i become a member of student committee (student club) in the course and everybody knew me instantly. i have many friends not only from my class but also from other classes as well as teachers and staff. though my class took twice a week, i came almost everyday just to practice my English with some friends and teachers. sometimes i even waited till the latest session (9.00 PM) just to wait the teacher finished her class then we can have a little chat in English. once in a while i spent the night in one of my teacher house to get more English exposure. so you can imagine my effort to study English but believe it or not i can speak English less than 6 months.

Let's Learn English

(How people greet in USA? Etiquette in US ?)
Etiquette in US It is very common in US that if you see a person in the eye (if your looks connect with other person) when you are walking down the street or anywhere in a building, to say a friendly phrase,

“ Hi ! How are you doing ?”
Typically you smile and then say the phrase. This is a very common and most important way to greet people. Irrespective of if you know the person or not, you always ask the person “How are you doing ?”. It is a common etiquette in America. I was not used to greeting someone on the road or anywhere back in my country, but now I kind of got the feel of it. If you are a student, you greet the professor in same way, but add ‘Professor’ before .

If you do not say, “How are you doing or smile”, you just nod the head down just as a gesture to acknowledge the other person. You may say “Hi” and then nod the head down. I was not used to this too…In our culture, we do not say Hi to random people on the street and it is socially considered intruding someone’s personal space, but in US it is very common and it is the way you do it.

Lets Learn : Simple Past Tense
(Regular / Irregular Verb)
----

Present tense Past simple

I learn --> I learned

She drives --> She drove

He tells --> He told

You swim --> You swam

Perubahan kata kerja yang kita lakukan terbagi menjadi dua kategori yaitu kata kerja yang beraturan (regular verbs) dan kata kerja yang tidak beraturan (irregular verbs).

Kata kerja beraturan diubah dengan cara yang sangat mudah, karena hanya menambahkan “d” atau “ed” pada huruf terakhir.

Kata kerja beraturan atau regular verbs:

Add : --> added

Allow : --> allowed

Bake : --> baked

Book : --> booked

brush : --> brushed

call : --> called

close : --> closed

change : --> changed

Rumus :

Subject + Verb 2 + Object

Subject + DID NOT (DIDN'T) + Verb 1 + Object

Contoh:

He baked a cake for me two weeks ago

He didn't bake a cake for me two weeks ago

Kata kerja tidak beraturan atau irregular verbs

Arise : --> arose

Burn : --> burnt

catch : --> caught

choose : --> chose

cling : --> clung

come : --> came

fly : --> flew

forbid : --> forbade

forget : --> forgot

Rumus:

+ Subject + To be 2 + Non Verb + Object

- Subject + To be 2 + NOT + Non Verb + Object

Contoh:

The baby began cry when nobody near him

The baby didn’t begin cry when nobody near him

2. Keterangan waktu

Keterangan waktu dipakai untuk melengkapi suatu kalimat. Ada beberapa keterangan waktu dalam past tense yang secara umum digunakan, misalnya, last year, last morning, last night, yesterday, two days ago, three weeks ago. Di bawah ini ada contoh yang jauh lebih banyak dan beragam.

from July to December

Yesterday

Two weeks ago

last month

in 2010

for a long time

for 10 weeks

in the 1960s

in the last century

in the past
