How to be confident when you speak if you're not good at English
I know how it feels na alam mo yung sagot, pero hindi mo alam paano sabihin.
In my survey of over 2,100 Filipinos while writing my ebook, many admitted their biggest fear in public speaking wasnโt just speaking itself, but speaking in English.
One of my 1:1 beta coaching clients even said, โI know what I want to say in Tagalog, but when I switch to English, my mind freezes and I lose confidence.โ
Hereโs how you can start building confidence even if youโre not fluent in English:
1. Focus on Fluency, Not Perfection
Use simple words youโre comfortable with. Fluency is about flow, not fancy vocabulary. The more you practice speaking out loud, the more natural it becomes.
2. Speak From Experience
When you talk about your own story, you donโt have to translate too hard. Your passion will always make you sound more confident than perfect grammar.
Mental blocks donโt mean youโre not smart. They just mean you need a system to handle the pressure.
3. Reframe Your Mindset
Your value is in your ideas, not in your accent or grammar. People respect sincerity and substance more than flawless English.
Thatโs exactly why I wrote this guide to help Filipinos who arenโt fluent in English, but who still need the confidence to speak in recitations, meetings, or job interviews.
Inside my ebook, youโll learn:
๐ค How to organize your thoughts so you donโt blank out
๐ค Simple drills that build fluency without needing perfect grammar
๐ค Mindset shifts that turn fear into focus
