Providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses help our children build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways. Sensory play means any activity that stimulates our young child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing.⠀

Through sensory play we facilitate and naturally explore and encourage children to use scientific processes as they manipulate, create, investigate and explore. Sensory play allows children to refine their perception for different sensory information that helps their brain to create stronger connections to process and respond all the sensory information.⠀

Learning about personal hygiene should start from an early age. One of the most effective ways to encourage the kids to wash their hands? Lead by example! As parents, we have to walk the talk by accompanying and joining our little ones when it’s time to wash their hands, whether it’s before they touch their face and eat, or after going to the bathroom, touching animals or garbage, and playing at the playground.⠀

We all start out as natural linguists, that’s why children are believed to have an easier time adapting to a new language than adults. Here are some tips to teach your children Mandarin as a second language and help them practice their language skills: Use cards with fun illustrations as props, sing along to children’s songs, or read children’s books in Mandarin.⠀

Teaching kids to colour can be done through a variety of ways. One of them is using crayons and printed colouring pages. This way, you can teach them to overcome the challenge of staying inside the lines while allowing them experiment with colours using a tool that is much easier to use than pens or pencils. ⠀

They say, kids learn the most when they get their hands dirty. We can’t agree more! For children, it’s important to use their senses to explore new things. At our art classes, we encourage students to use their fingers to paint and get creative with colours. Indeed, this finger painting activity never goes old for so many reasons. Not only do they get to learn about colour mixing, the students can also stimulate their senses, develop fine motor skills, express their feelings, and develop communication when the activity is done in groups.⠀
