Tallebudgera Creek, Gold Coast, Australia π
Tallebudgera Creek training wall (groyne) β renewal works and associated beach closure
Construction to renew the Tallebudgera Creek training wall (groyne) is commencing this month with works continuing until mid-2023.
This rock structure maintains the alignment and position of the Creekβs entrance to the sea and also protects public and private infrastructure against significant swells and storm generated waves entering the creek.
The renewal will involve re-arranging rock material on the existing wall and additional rocks to improve structural integrity. Long term, the design will improve pedestrian access and accommodate equipment for future maintenance.
Please note:
- Construction plant and rock material will be transported along the beach via Twenty Seventh Avenue, Palm Beach. To ensure public safety, the Dog Off-Leash area and part of the beach will be closed to the public during construction hours.
- Rocks will be stockpiled at a temporary compound on the beach.
- Works will take place Monday to Saturday 7:00am β 6:00pm
- Any dune areas impacted will be reinstated and rehabilitated at the end of construction.
- Letters have been distributed to residents and businesses in the area.

Australian government is thinking to create 'special innovation zones' where skilled migrants are given four-year visas with a pathway to permanent residency, to help Australia tackle its skilled worker shortage.
The precincts would group common industries and activities into hubs for high-tech, high-skilled and high-wage jobs, and would be eligible for Designated Area Migration Agreements β which make it easier for employers to hire overseas workers. Examples include the Sydney aerotropolis, Fishermans Bend in Melbourne and regional locations for emerging technology (such as green hydrogen).
Australiaβs overall migration intake is capped at 160,000 per year, but the business community wants that increased to 220,000 to help businesses and the wider economy bounce back from the pandemic.
