The APNIC Foundation is pleased to announce its first-ever Research Fellowship. The program will support five researchers with a USD 10,000 stipend each to carry out a four-month remote research project between September and December 2025.
The fellowship is designed to generate applied, policy-relevant insights on the future of the Internet in the Asia Pacific region. Selected fellows will work on topics related to AI and the future of work, Internet infrastructure and operations, digital public infrastructure, and Internet stability and measurement.
Outputs may include datasets, tools, frameworks, or policy guidelines that can inform decision-making across governments, technical communities, and the broader tech ecosystem.
Applicants may choose from one of the following four tracks:
● AI and the Future of Work: Focus on automation, industry exposure, skills transformation, and reskilling policy roadmaps.
● Internet Infrastructure and Operations: Examine IXP effectiveness, network topology, and the impact of geopolitics on digital infrastructure.
● Digital Public Infrastructure and AI Capability Gaps: Assess the readiness of national DPI systems and identify regional disparities in compute, data, and talent.
● Internet Stability and Measurement: Explore Internet routing performance, IPv6 benchmarks, churn analysis, and ethical measurement practices.
Cross-cutting proposals are welcome as long as the scope remains focused and feasible within the four-month term.
📅 Application deadline: 30 August 2025, 23:59 PM (Australia/Sydney time UTC+10)
