It all began from a dream of putting Indonesia to the world map of dance.
United Dance Works’ founder Adhisty Juliani Kampono has the vision to create opportunities for young, talented Indonesian dancers/choreographers to be acknowledged for their skills and unique character in dance by international dance communities.
By establishing UDW Dance Company which focuses on Urban, Ethnic and Contemporary performances, United Dance Works is preparing itself for going global.
Adhisty began to establish and create network with overseas artists, dance institutions/companies in order to achieve her vision. She then met fellow artists and professionals in Holland namely Gerard Mosterd, Jacques Van Meel, Nishant Bhola, Julia Mitomi and was also introduced by Jacques Van Meel to the reknown Lucia Martha (owner of Lucia Martha Dance Academy), one of the top dance academy in Holland which is under University of Amsterdam.
After a long journey, in 2016, Jacques Van Meel, met through Gerard Mosterd (Holland), came to United Dance Works Indonesia and selected one of our dancer Viko Andy Rindarsyah to be invited to perform in Roosendal Dance Festival, Holland in September 2017.
Viko collaborated with Jacques Van Meel to create a beautiful, inspiring choreography piece titled “Hornbills” and were performed at several occassions and were given the opportunity to give workshops for local dancers.
Viko grew as an artist throughout many years of training at United Dance Works. He is fully trained and mentor by UDW’s Artistic Director, Yessy Hutabarat and UDW Head of Contemporary Academy, Siko Setyanto.
