Imagine an AI that doesn't just answer your questions, but actually plans your entire trip, negotiates with other systems, and gets things done with barely any supervision. That's the world Dr. Darshika Koggalahewa, Lecturer and Deputy Academic Lead HDR at Queensland University of Technology, introduced to BINUSIANs at BINUS Sudirman Campus, as part of BINUS International Week 2026.
Through a hands-on multi-agent simulation, Dr. Darshika unpacked how Agentic AI goes beyond traditional and generative AI, built to accomplish specific goals with minimal human supervision through AI agents designed to mimic human decision-making. He showed how these agents rarely work alone โ multiple agents operate autonomously yet collaboratively under a central orchestrator, drawing on memory, reasoning, governance, and connected tools to solve real-world problems, from planning a trip to coordinating hospital logistics. He also grounded the concept in industry reality, pointing to companies like Amazon and DHL already deploying these systems, and to QUT's growing Enterprise AI initiatives built through real industry partnerships.
This session left BINUSIAN with a clearer picture of where AI is truly headed next โ a valuable takeaway made possible by Dr. Darshika's generosity in sharing his expertise.
