Every year, millions of workers are injured or lose their lives globally from work-related accidents and diseases. Organizations worldwide recognize the need to provide a safe and healthy working environment to reduce the likelihood of accidents, to demonstrate they are actively managing risks, to help protect employees and to protect the longevity and health of an organization.
Since 1999, OHSAS 18001 has been a recognized occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) standard against which management systems can be assessed and certified. Now, a new ISO standard is being developed to replace OHSAS 18001; this standard is ISO 45001.
ISO 45001 enables an organization to achieve the following intended outcomes of Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS):
• Continual improvement of OHS performance
• Fulfilment of legal requirements and other requirements
• Achievement of OHS objectives

HACCP, an acronym for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point is a food safety system that is certifiable and is widely recognised in the industry. It is a powerful system, which can be applied to a wide range of simple and complex operations and is equally applicable to both small and large manufacturers.

IATF has announced the publication of a new quality management requirements for automotive industry as IATF 16949:2016. It adopts the ten-clause structure of the Annex SL and is aligned to the ISO 9001:2015 standard. Riding on the framework of process approach with risk based thinking, the IATF 16949:2016 was written to include consideration for customer specific requirements. The language used is now more direct, explicit and user-friendly with additional provisions for control of software embedded within automotive parts, changes in documentation requirements, and added clarity as fundamental to address the needs of the automotive supply chain.
