They stand on the common ground of shared principles and are committed to the path of promoting reconciliation, overcoming barriers, and building peace in accordance with the principles of peace.

Selamat malam, Indonesia! Merdeka!

Tujuh puluh tahun sudah, kemerdekaan Indonesia telah tiba pada segenap jiwa manusianya. Indonesia, merupakan state-of-mind dari sebuah kata merdeka yang lahir dari keringat toleransi dan semangat perdamaian.

Namun, sudahkah kita benar-benar merdeka? Terutama merdeka dalam memeluk dan menjalankan agama kita?

Peran agama saat ini sering dihadapkan dengan dua sisi. Di satu sisi berperan dalam pembangunan perdamaian, tetapi di sisi lain dianggap berkontribusi pada munculnya konflik. Pandangan mengenai hal ini pada akhirnya menyebabkan berbagai tantangan dalam membina kerukunan antar umat beragama.

Berbagai tantangan tersebut datang dalam berbagai bentuk, salah satunya adalah rumah ibadah. Bentuk pelanggaran hadir dalam berbagai bentuk, mulai dari penolakan, pembatasan, penyegelan hingga perusakan rumah ibadah.

Terkait hal tersebut, Global Peace Foundation Indonesia mengambil inisiatif untuk melaksanakan PEACE! Project, sebuah kegiatan pembersihan rumah ibadah di beberapa titik di Jakarta dalam menciptakan toleransi antar umat beragama secara berkelanjutan. Membersihkan rumah ibadah diyakini tidak hanya bermanfaat bagi rumah ibadah secara fisik dan nyaman, tetapi juga berdampak pada ketulusan masyarakat dalam melakukan ibadah.

Bersama, kita akan memulai kegiatan ini di Masjid Al-Muqarrabin & GMIST Mahanaim (Jl. Enggano No 52, Tanjung Priok, Jakarta Utara), dua rumah ibadah yang saling bersebelahan; hal ini tentunya dapat dijadikan sarana belajar dalam mewujudkan perdamaian antar umat.

Call for Volunteers!

Dear passionate young leaders!

We're happy to announce that Life Park Project, one of our community development projects, taking place at Rumah Susun Flamboyan, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, is opening an opportunity for you to volunteer in.

There are a variety of activities that you can involve in, including but not limited to sports (martial arts, futsal, basketball, etc), environmental campaign (cleaning, building awareness, garbage recycling, competition, etc), and English club (teaching, spelling, poem, etc).

This opportunity is open only to those residing in Greater Jakarta.
As a volunteer, you will work in a team comprising 10 or more undergraduate students (or fresh graduates).

Interested candidates should send CV and a paragraph of why they want to volunteer in this project, to [email protected] no later than May 12, 2015.

East Java Inspiring Youth 2015, a distinguished exclusively supported by the department of youth and sports of East Java Province has successfully raised 60 moral and innovative young leaders.

The second volunteers camp of GPF Indonesia in 2015, it took place in Pandaan, Pasuruan, East Java Province, from 9 to 11 of March 2015.

Three learned and leading speakers, Dr. Teh Su Thye (GPF Malaysia), Yor Ching P**n and Shintya Rahmi Utami (GPF Indonesia) were enthusiastically encouraging the participants to embrace the vision of One Family under God. As if not to be out-spirited, the participants were even more passionate, paying attention to the lecture and grasping the values fast.

Vitri Rahmawati, Kepala Seksi Organisasi Pemuda (Administrative Section Head of Youth Organization), Department of Youth and Sports of East Java Province, was delighted to have this program organized in her region.

"I'm so happy that this program is held here, in my region. Through this program, I hope that more and more East Java youths can be inspired to start making good initiatives for the betterment of East Java and the nation, of course. I also hope that they can now have global insights but still embrace the local virtues." she conveyed.

The Global Peace Volunteers Camp 1.26 was concluded on March 22, leaving a life-changing experience and heart-melting memory of those participated. A group of 20 young people were thrillingly following a variety of activities during the camp, taking place in Toboali, South Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

The 3-day camp was preceded by U-Gen Seminar which successfully brought together 300 local youths discussing the importance of environment preservation and youth role in contributing to global issues resolution.

The seminar themed "Role of Youth: Act Locally, Affect Globally" featured 4 prominent speakers on the matter, Dr. Chandra Setiawan (Rector of President University), Rasio Rido Sani (Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Forestry), Gracia Paramitha (UNEP Advisory Council - Miss Environment 2002) and Yor Ching P**n (Country Director of GPF Indonesia).

The speakers put much emphasis on what youths can do and how far they can contribute to tackling global issues despite acting locally.
