The High School courtyard has long been the heart of the Cilandak campus, playing a central role in our shared JIS experience. Though it has changed over the decades, this JIS icon continues to hold a special place in the formative memories of generations of Dragons. Happy 10th graduation anniversary to the JIS Class of 2016! Can you believe it’s been a whole decade since those final days of High School — when Snapchat filters were our latest obsession, the Mannequin Challenge ruled social media, and we all binged the first season of “Stranger Things”. Wherever life has taken you since then, we just know you’re low-key slaying it (yaaaaassss) and doing amazing things!

Our JIS hoodie made it all the way to Alaska! Class of 1998 Alumna Mary (Meeks) Knight is showing off her brand-new Dragon merch from her home in one of the last holdouts of winter, located just 80 miles from the Arctic Circle, where she trains and runs a team of sled dogs. She sends all her love and warm wishes to fellow alumni from around the world, especially the Class of 1998, as well as current students, teachers, and staff in Jakarta.

We would love for you to stop by our campuses, but please remember that ALL VISITS must be pre-arranged. An important note: Visits during school hours can be booked between 8 AM and 12 PM and must be accompanied by a member of our Alumni Team.

Additional reminders:
-Visits outside of school hours and during breaks can be unaccompanied. If you have a Local Alumni ID Card, you do not need to register to visit outside of school hours.
- Unaccompanied visits can be registered between 3 PM and 8:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and 8 AM to 6 PM on weekends.
- Same-day requests cannot be accommodated.
- All JIS campuses are closed on public holidays and no visits are possible.

After years away, Joshua Beech (Class of 2017) was back on campus for the first time since graduation. A true Dragon Lifer whose JIS journey spanned Kindergarten to Grade 12, he returned to “reminisce on past experiences” and memories that have stayed with him to this day. Joshua is now based in Melbourne, Australia, where he is working as a Customer Support Analyst.

Dragons spotted in Texas! Our Houston-area alumni recently gathered at Brazos Bend State Park for a day of shared food, nature walks, and great conversation — complete with beautiful scenery and a few alligators along the way. A special shoutout to Pam Enriquez (third right, Class of 1974), who is wearing her JIS hoodie as one of our monthly winners! With her are Roy Tan (1980), Hans Berg (1980), Deana Cotton Turner (1978), Jackson Moydell (1979), and Engeline Tan (1979).

When iPods were everything, the Motorola Razr was a hot commodity, and low-rise jeans ruled the world, the JIS Class of 2006 graduated high school! Twenty years on, they’re still the bomb dot com (sorry, but we just had to put that in there) while making their mark around the world. Happy 20th graduation anniversary, Dragons!

Gerry Heyen (Class of 1980) recently returned to the Cilandak campus to revisit the place that helped shape his global outlook. Now retired and living in Auckland, Gerry worked in Australian immigration for many years, where his early experiences at JIS and across Indonesia and Malaysia proved invaluable. He counts himself lucky to have grown up surrounded by different cultures, which gave him the natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life — something that stayed with him throughout his career.
