Five days is short enough to sound simple. It isn’t.

Intermediate Perfumery at KSA is built for the moment when “I like this” is no longer enough when you want to understand what is happening inside a formula, make more intentional choices, and develop a nose that can evaluate beyond first impressions.

It is intensive because the learning is cumulative. Every material, comparison, correction, and formulation exercise changes the way you approach the next one.

You do not leave simply knowing more materials. You leave with a sharper way of smelling, thinking, and formulating.

A scent we often recognise, but rarely stop to observe closely: leather.

This time, KSA interprets it through Garut Leather inspired by a tannery district at Sukaregang. The character that feels dry, warm, slightly smoky, and textured. Not overly polished, but still refined.

Dalam perfumery, leather juga tidak selalu harus terasa dark atau masculine. Depending on what you pair it with, the direction can shift quite dramatically.

Pair it with rose or jasmine for a floral leather.
Tea and woods can make it feel drier and more restrained.
Resins and spices can push it into something warmer, deeper, and more dramatic.
Or you can tweak it with pink pepper for spicy and citrusy, perfect for Indonesia’s weather.

And one interesting thing: leather notes in perfume usually don’t come from actual leather. The impression is built through materials that can create smoky, dry, woody, animalic, or suede-like facets.
