The Lucifer Effect was a controversial but poignant study on the effect of the environment on people.
Are people born good or bad ? Does the environment affect behaviour ?

Courage is not about avoiding fear. It’s about understanding it and moving forward in its presence.
Teaching students to have courage in the classroom not only increases engagement and academic achievement, but it also helps students learn how to handle adversity.
To inspire your students to be courageous, you can discuss characters in stories and novels that show courage or could have shown courage. Ask questions and listen to what they think courage looks like.

The governments have a hard time balancing between honesty and acceptance.
When we posed this question to elementary students and teenagers the answers were surprising!
It seems society at a young age is already mindful on stability and ready for aliens !
Tell us your opinion! We’d be glad to hear from you.

Having a great iq is not enough to be successful. Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education.
A complete education also includes learning about self management and the integration of positive values that heighten one's sense of awareness to adjust and change for the better.
The main aim of students as well as parents for their children is always to be better.
A broad education that covers softskill, morals and values, will allow students to think broadly, creatively and have the courage to communicate and execute plans.

SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT ACKNOWLEDGE UFOs?
Here is another great question for discussion we had with our students lately. The fact on UFOs was a good angle for us to discuss the real question here – Should the government be always 100% transparent and honest ?
The survey done amongst 90 secondary student students (In Singapore) were the following –
35% : Yes
20% : No
45% : Depends
CRITICALLY UNDECIDED
Those in the “Depend” category gave very compelling reasons – depending on who you tell, depending on whether the citizens are educated or matured to receive news, depending on whether the news will cause disruption to society. It was interesting students were concerned about the balance in society at 14 years of age.
While it does seem that governments have a hard time balancing between honesty and acceptance, it seems society at a young age is already mindful on stability and ready for aliens !
Tell us your opinion! We’d be glad to hear from you. Here’s Avi Loeb from Havard who believes strongly that there is alien life.

WHAT IS THE REAL ROLE OF A TEACHER?
Many a times, we hear about teachers going the extra mile – buying stickers for students to encourage them to do better, spending additional time to run through Math, calling students to check if they are ok if they fail to turn up in class or simply lending a listening ear.
MANY ROLES BUT 1 DRIVER
The professional role of a teacher is to teach.
But we have forgotten sometimes that teachers also serve as role models, moral guides, counsellors, authority figures and even friends. For this, schools need to train and equip teachers in these roles.
Teaching is probably one of the most understated and (in our opinion) under paid jobs in the world. Teachers have a very significant impact on children.
In essence there is no singular role in a teacher, but the teacher encompasses a multitude of roles.
But the singular driver for any teacher is perhaps his/her passion to want to benefit and help students grow.
Every year at Singapore's Teachers' Day awards where good teachers are recognised, the common thread is this - they go the extra mile for students.
Meaning it is a cost of time, energy and interest in a student's personal progress. That is difficult and fueled by that singular driver of pure passion.
What you reckon is the hardest role for a teacher to play? We’d love to hear from you.
In the mean time, here is a teacher serving multiple roles for the community.

SHOULD HUMANS COLONISE OTHER PLANETS?
In our discussion with elementary students (Yes, elementary students.) recently, we posed this question.
Mindful, critical discussions are always better with intriguing subjects and they help develop a student’s ability to think objectively and allow all students in class to explore and share ideas.
Some interesting answers included the following :
- Planetary wars
Colonisation of planets could eliminate the idea of countries and start the idea of planetary ownership – meaning our wars could escalate into planetary wars instead of wars between 2 countries.
- Discovery of immortal life
we could discover resources that make us live forever
- Living with Aliens
We have to make friends with alien life
What do you think? Is colonisation of planets a good idea? Or do you have other interesting topics to share about? Tell us more in the comments!
Here is a great article about the laws facing space colonisation.
