It was delightful to be a judge of English speech at by . Thanks to the teachers and student committee for this opportunity 🙏

We were looking for young public speakers with ‘the whole package’:

1. Content (well-developed ideas, coherent and cohesive structure, wide-range and accurate grammar and vocabulary)

2. Delivery (confidence, good use of verbal and non-verbal communication, good fluency and pronunciation)

Though it was a difficult and debatable decision, we knew that we’d pick the right top 6, let alone top 3. You guys deserved it; Maria, Leon, and Joanna! You’ve all got the whole package we were looking for. I think it’s not an exaggeration when I say that you guys are among the best young public speakers I’ve ever seen in my life.

Congratulations to all of you. Indeed, the greatest battle is the one within ourselves; with our own negative thoughts. Yet you guys, all of you, chose to get there and strive for the best. You’ve all won that battle. I’m really proud of all of you 🤍

Perjalanan kalian panjang untuk bisa sampai ke titik ini. Terima kasih telah berjuang. Terima kasih juga telah berbagi cerita hidup kalian yang amat berkesan bagi saya. Saya yakin semua yang membacanya pasti sangat bangga dengan kalian ber-tiga!

Tentunya, terima kasih yang sebesar-besarnya kepada para donatur. Semoga Tuhan membalas dengan yang jauh lebih baik. Dana dari Anda insyaallah akan kami manfaatkan sebaik-baiknya untuk membantu Anin, Azraf, dan Syakira naik level dalam bahasa Inggris. We’ll also gradually keep you updated with the awardees’ improvement!

Dengan dana dari Anda, anak-anak ini akan kami fasilitasi dengan fasilitas-fasilitas yang bisa Anda lihat di slide ke-8. Intinya, kami akan membantu mereka meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka secara general dan juga mengikutkan mereka ke kompetisi-kompetisi bahasa Inggris sesuai minat dan bakat mereka.

Tentu saja Anda masih bisa berkontribusi untuk membantu memperkecil kesenjangan pendidikan bahasa Inggris di negeri kita dengan cara yang ada di slide terakhir postingan ini.

Buat teman-teman yang belum terpilih, saya mohon maaf karena tahun ini saya baru bisa menampung 3 anak. Semoga ada kesempatan lain yang bisa membantu teman-teman untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris teman-teman semua. Dan terima kasih banyak atas keberanian kalian untuk mencoba! Semoga bisa memupuk kepercayaan diri teman-teman untuk mencoba lagi dan lagi di masa mendatang. Ingat, kegagalan sejatinya adalah untuk mereka yang berhenti mencoba.

Team USA once asked me the meaning of my name, 'Daffa.'

With a smile, I shared that in Arabic, it translates to 'Defender,' and when combined with my last name, ‘Al Falah’ it forms 'Defender of the Victory.'

Their playful response was, 'So, are you here to lead us to victory?'

Little did I know, as fate would have it, Team USA went on to secure 4 Silver Medals, teasingly confirming the luck my name brings.

As a Liaison Officer for iGeo 2023, my experience went beyond the competition itself. It evolved into a remarkable journey that presented a learning opportunity, fostered lifelong connections with young people from around the world, and painted my heart with moments I'll forever treasure. Grateful beyond measure to and the committee (especially the all-star LOs!) for placing their trust in me to be a part of this monumental event!

Extending heartfelt gratitude to Team USA for their cooperation and trust in me as their Liaison Officer. Your unique blend of friendliness and professionalism has truly enriched my journey, sharpening the trajectory of my career in this role as an LO. As we part ways, the camaraderie shared will be deeply missed.

And to other participants; even if geography isn't your main focus in college or life beyond, remember that the passion, dedication, and love for constant learning will always remain alive within you.

And finally, to my fellow Liaison Officers, let's acknowledge the immense effort it took for each of us to reach this point in the event. From navigating the rigorous selection processes to managing the event itself, we've woven a bond that has only grown stronger with each passing day. May this bond continue to thrive, becoming a steadfast thread connecting us through future encounters and collaborations.

Stepped back into the competitive arena alongside my team .christian24 and the incredible crew et al., leading this year's prestigious field of ALSA LC National English Competition at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia! Grateful for the chance given to out IWS spelling community once again 🙏

From three-time champ 🤓🏆 to mentor, my journey comes full circle, trading online judging for the exhilaration of on-site action. A thrill to repay the experience we missed as virtual judges in the past.

Hats off to all, especially the triumphant trio: Fawwaz from Sekolah Murid Merdeka, Fachry from MA Pembangunan UIN Jakarta, and Marvel from Candle Tree School. Y’all’ve blown me away with your incredible talent! Keep shining brightly! 🌟🎉

Banyak sekali keberuntungan dalam hidupku yang aku dapatkan lewat bantuan orang lain. Misalnya, dulu aku bisa kursus bahasa Inggris di salah satu kursusan terbaik karena dapat beasiswa menang spelling bee mereka.

Dampak itu membekas sampai sekarang. Bahkan, aku bisa terus menerapkan ilmu yang dulu aku dapatkan dari kesempatan belajar itu.

Namun, di luar sana, banyaak sekali teman-teman kita yang berpotensi namun memiliki halangan akses maupun finansial untuk bisa belajar bahasa Inggris dengan baik.

Maka dari itu, aku ingin merayakan hari bahagia ini dengan mengajak teman-teman semua berbagi kebahagiaan pada teman-teman kita, anak muda Indonesia.

Aku membuka program Beasiswa Daffa Al Falah untuk membantu anak-anak muda Indonesia memaksimalkan potensi bahasa Inggris mereka melalui kursus gratis selama SETAHUN.

Syukur-syukur, mereka juga bisa kita berangkatkan untuk ikut lomba bahasa Inggris nasional dan internasional!
