🪷 Something Happens in the Stillness

“One of the hardest things for me…is to sit in stillness and not move.

When I meditate I don’t adjust. No matter the discomfort, I take my mind into it and it dissolves.

I don’t move my arms, my legs, my toes. I don’t gulp. I just sit perfectly still. And it takes discipline… because you want to move.

But something happens. Magic… inside the stillness. It’s like opening a doorway to a different reality.”

- Peter Caughey

Try it, just sit, and don’t move. ✨

Calm your mind with this gentle Qigong movement.

This practice is called Water Rises to the Sky, from the Long Life Qigong system.

As you turn gently from side to side, the arms rise and lower in coordination with the breath. The movement creates a steady rhythm through the body, encouraging you to slow down and settle into the practice.

This exercise helps improve the flow of Qi throughout the body, calm the mind, and release stress and tension.

If you're looking for simple ways to bring more calm into your daily routine, our FREE 5-Day Intro Series offers short guided Qigong practices to help you build a daily habit and experience the foundations of Qigong at home.

➡️ Increased flexibility in the hips and hamstrings
➡️ Improved circulation
➡️ Reduced stress and anxiety
➡️ Enhanced mental focus and concentration

Tips for practicing the Golden Rooster posture:
➡️ Start by practicing the posture for short periods of time, gradually increasing the amount of time you spend in the posture as you become more comfortable.

➡️ Your spine should be straight, your shoulders should be relaxed, and your head should be held level.
➡️ If you start to lose your balance, come out of the posture and start again.

Qigong isn't just a physical practice. It can be a deeply spiritual practice as well.

This exercise is called Scoop the Earth and Part the Clouds, from the Shi Ba Shi Taiji Qigong system.

As you practise, you're encouraged to slow down and experience your relationship with the world around you. The movement reminds us that we aren't separate from nature. We move with the earth beneath us, the air around us, and the sky above us, bringing the body, breath, and awareness together in one practice.

If you'd like to build a deeper understanding of practices like this, the Qigong Foundation Program offers a clear introduction to the principles behind Qigong while helping you establish a simple daily practice.

Many people think aging well means looking younger or trying to hold on to youth.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the focus is different. Rather than trying to turn back the clock, the practice is about looking after the body and mind you already have, while continuing to cultivate your energy, strength, vitality, and clarity as the years go by.

This understanding sits at the heart of Qigong practice, and it's one of the many perspectives explored throughout the Forest Rock Qigong Teacher Training Level 1 in Singapore.

Alongside learning the movements themselves, you'll develop a foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine, explore the principles behind each Qigong system, and understand the medical context that informs the practice. The training begins with four weeks of online study before continuing with nine days of in-person training with Master Peter Caughey at The Yoga House Singapore.

Whether you hope to teach in the future or simply want to deepen your own understanding of Qigong, the training is open to all levels.

Loosen stiffness in your back and waist with this flowing Qigong movement.

This practice is called Windmill Turns in the Breeze, from the Shi Ba Shi Taiji Qigong system.

Practised slowly for a few minutes, it helps promote blood circulation, release tension through the lower back, and improve flexibility in the waist and abdomen.

If you'd like to understand the principles behind movements like this, Forest Rock's Level 1 Qigong Teacher Training in Singapore offers a structured path into Qigong practice.

Across four weeks of online study and nine days of in-person training, you'll build a deeper understanding of classical Qigong systems, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the practical skills to develop your own practice, with the option to become a certified teacher if you choose.

Feel more grounded with this simple Qigong stance.

This movement is called Flying Eagle (Fēi yīng) from the Zhan Zhuang Qigong system.

As your arms gently float to the sides, the body begins to settle. This simple movement helps open the body's key energy points, relax the joints, and support a greater sense of stability, calm, and presence.

For many people, the challenge isn't trying Qigong for the first time. It's knowing what to practise, how the movements work together, and where to begin.

If you'd like a clear and structured place to start, the Qigong Foundation Program was created to help you build a practical understanding of Qigong while developing a simple daily practice.
