Every Future Leader Should Have A Duty To Teach

I am passionated to actualize the role of teaching beside my full-time carrer as a government analyst. I think working as a government officer need more interaction with multiple group of society, and education is the strategic platform to align this purpose with the issue of building collective awareness in the spectrum of local governance.

I usually teach English Speaking, Debating and Sosial Sciences, the subjects that I learn intensively for more than twenty years in my higher education. I initiated this movement since 15 years ago. Starting with small group of discussion, this movement already established as a prospective student community with English Speaking and debating as the main agenda.

More than 50 institutions that I approached in northern sumatera area so far, and I eager to expand my impact to adress more remote schools. With hundred of students that I met during learning process, I can learn the character building and how to educate people with diversed background, and operating the best platform to activate student’s critical thinking. Students grew in their perspective and constructively enriched my perspective with their original idea and opinion. A blessing to copy a vary of intellectual minds from bright individuals.

I believe that teaching is a important fundamental soft skill for every future leader. Teaching will help future leader to accelerate the way of leading people, and helping people to perform the best that they can contribute to the community. Teaching is also a significant platform for every young leader to identify the critical issue happened in the society through discussion, interraction and focus group discussion. Allowing people to have different opinion is a constructive mindset that every future leader should equip in their competence, and empower them to have a growth mindset and learning habit sustainably.

We are privileged to have opportunity to share the inspiring lecturing about the importance of public speaking for university student in academic and future life.

We are pleased to deliver presentation to explain a compherensive material about the raising demand of softskill in competitive job market and how public speaking will help many people to explore their talent and capability to contribute the greater impact.

The idea of public speaking is basically a surviving skill for everybody in explaining, convincing and persuading people in ideas that we can contribute to the company and society. People are often responsive with direct communication, and how public speaking will help people to gathering new supporters and collecting massive support. Public speaking is important to inform and building an equal communication in many occasions.

Debating is a good practice for students in delivering their ideas and argumentation. It is a good platform to bring opportunities for actualizing the speaking capability and allowing people to spread the positive message through logical reasoning.

Promoting debate in the school, both in formal and non-formal curriculum, will bring the positive impacts for students and school. Students would be more confident to deliberate their minds into an argumentative speech, also comprehend their knowledge in a form of practical speech will bring a greater result of understanding subjects for students.

Schools who are committed to conduct sustainable initiative in debating and public speaking will have a positive feedback for parentsband society. Allowing students to speak-up their ideas will bring a positive image of school in the democracy living and upscaling the school’s reputation and quality to be more advanced.

We are living in the era of digital information. An era where everything we can know from smartphone, and everybody is easily to access information to achieve the better level of transparency ans accountability, especially in public governance.

I was privileged to attend the workshop of digital information transformation in public sector, organized by and . I was representing Kecamatan Binjai Selatan, my current office, to discuss about the implementation of digital technology and information in the strategic development planning of local government.

We discussed a lot with the speakers about the importance of digital information to achieve an inclusive local government with a better responsiveness in education, public service and human resources capability. We agreed that education is a must priority of local government to realize digital literacy as the first requirement of digital transformation. All stakeholders are responsible to support sustainable effort of mandatory education and increase the quality of teachers. Moreover, local government are expected to show a significant intervention for eliminating barriers of education in poverty, accessibility and incentive reward.

Last weekend, I was privilleged to be a speaker for Leadership and Teamwork Training, conducted by UKM Inkubator Sains Universitas Sumatera Utara. This training wss aimed to disseminate the idea of leadership and teamwork for all internal commiittee and members in implementing the organizational program working.

I emphasized three main remarks in this training. First, it is very important to have a collective vision to build organization for a scaled-up trust and capability through strategic program. Second, every member should have a better understanding about the concept of value and soft skill as the benefit of joining organization. Third, leadership is not only about direction and command, but mostly about communication with all stakeholders for creating mutual understanding.

We convey high appreciation for for this initiative, providing scholarship for selected mentees for having an intensive preparation to secure scholarship.

Shout out to our colleague as director of Language Access for her contributing for North Sumatra education access, and helping many young people to achieve their dreams, shatterring all boundaries with an inclusive supports.

We are proud to help in our small contribution, to promote and sounding this program for a larger outreach. We attended the ceremony, and feel very optimism that this program must be sustainable.
