Recently our very own Mr. Ashworth was invited to perform in the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, an internationally-renowned event. Around 100 international and local musicians participate, and over 3,000 jazz enthusiasts attend. Mr. Ashworth also had the honor of performing the first and last solos of the entire festival! Congratulations to Mr. Ashworth for such a successful event.

BIS is committed to the safety and well-being of students. Their care and protection are paramount, and our Designated Safeguarding Team is externally trained to manage and respond to child protection concerns. We maintain an environment that minimizes the risk of harm to students and promotes their right to be heard when they feel unsafe.

BIS also supports the rights and well-being of other members of the school community, including staff, parents, and volunteers. All BIS staff receive external Child Protection training, which helps our community to stay safe and inclusive environment for all.

The National Schools Debating Championship (NSDC) is Indonesia’s premier English-language debating competition for high schoolers, and BIS has a strong history of excellence in the event.

Continuing this legacy, BIS was named the Best Team at the Kota Bandung level this year! Valerie (Grade 12) and Mireille (Grade 11) went on to represent our city at the provincial competition, guiding Team Bandung to 6th place out of 28 regions. Valerie earned 4th Best Speaker, and Mireille secured 9th Best Speaker among 84 of West Java’s top debaters.

Their performance is a fantastic display of the IB Learner Profile in action. As skilled Communicators and analytical Thinkers, they tackled tough topics with eloquence and depth. By boldly embracing the pressure of the provincial stage, they proved themselves to be courageous Risk-Takers and Reflective scholars. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and talent!

Join us for the BIS Indonesian Independence Day Celebration on Wednesday, August 19! Drop by the front of the library during snack and lunch breaks to take some fun photos at our photo booth. Delicious Indonesian snacks will also be served near the canteen during the snack break. The main events start at 12:35 PM, and we warmly invite families to come and participate in our classic Tarik Tambang game! Wear your best red and white outfit, and let's make this a joyful celebration together. Merdeka!

Bandung Independent School was delighted to welcome our new students and families to the 2026–2027 academic year during our New Family Orientation.
The session was an opportunity to discover the BIS experience, learn more about our PYP, MYP, and DP programmes, explore our learning platforms, and connect with our community as they begin their journey with us. Families also enjoyed a school tour led by our BIS students, giving them the opportunity to explore the campus and experience BIS through the eyes of our students.
The orientation provided families with important information and guidance to help make their transition to BIS as smooth as possible.
We’re excited to have you as part of the BIS Dragon Family!
