At 17, I worked alongside journalists covering the 2004 Tsunami, reporting from devastated areas and witnessing resilience firsthand.

Collaborating with a French TV station, I witnessed the destruction in Kaju – nothing was left.

Alongside Paul, a photojournalist from New York, I interviewed Red Cross volunteers and documented recovery efforts.

I also met James Balog, a Natgeo Journalist documenting an elephant among the rubble, searching for victims.

This experience has left a lasting impact. Alfatihah to all the victims.

Do you know why Americans give apples to teachers?

Back in the 1700s, families in the U.S. and parts of Scandinavia gave apples to teachers as a way to say thanks (or even as part of their salary!). Apples were valuable and seen as a gift of appreciation.

Over time, the apple became a symbol of knowledge, learning, and the teacher-student bond.

Today, it’s less about payment and more about tradition—a sweet little way to show respect and gratitude.

Interviewing a tsunami victim in Keudah,2005

A week after Tsunami, I got a call and asked “Revi, can you speak English? “
And I said “yes”
From that moment, I worked as interpreter for some international journalists , such as TV France, Nat Geo, Marie Claire ,and GQ Magazines

The work was exhausted physically and mentally because I was working on field following volunteers cleaning the debris and at the same time, I saw horrible scene on how everything destroyed and bodies scattered all over the place 😭

Duluuu banget, pas SMP pernah minta ke orang tua tolong ganti nama “Revival” ini.. karena pada saat itu ngerasa, namanya terlalu anti mainstream … But now, Im grateful for the name , it’s very unique walaupun kalau digunakan kadang2 gak grammatically correct 😂 .. misal nih, kalau g tau kalau Revival ini nama orang .. maka penulisan “Revival’s Class” bakalan salah karena Revival dalam bahasa inggris berfungsi sebagai adjective sedangkan Revival di dalam “Revival’s class” itu fungsinya sebagai kata benda y artinya “kelas miss revival” 🤭
