One of the money workshops our writer recently attended positively radiated optimism.

“You are no longer a slave to systems, class or material limitations,” the abundance queen cooed. “Empower yourself towards a stable, abundant future.”

She meant to be supportive.

But psychologists increasingly note dark consequence of framing financial struggle through the language of mindset, vibration and energetic alignment: it becomes much harder to speak honestly about fear or lack.

Once money problems are understood as personal frequency problems, anxiety, or even the desire for more, start to feel like failure.

Women begin monitoring their emotions carefully, trying not to appear negative, resistant or “scarcity-minded.”

An extraordinarily elegant form of self-surveillance disguised as empowerment.

The other day at a café with a smug confidence of a long-term bule we ordered a side of sambal.

If language shapes thought, what happens when your thinking is trained on the same phrases as everyone else’s?

How many times a day do you read “community,” “experience,” or “intentional” before they stop meaning anything?

At what point does semantic convergence stop being a linguistic theory and start being the reason Bali sounds like a single overworked press release?
