I just had one of those lovely moments where I sung my h e a r t out - truly, all of it - to this beautiful song. THIS today took me away from what I was doing. This is an artist who has inspired me for years, singing his first few songs from my childhood bedroom, to my uni room, seeing him live a few times, Australia, all through our travels, all the way to Bali. This voice comes with me everywhere.
I LOVE the birds in background, the breeze, the natural remnants of his story, and his voice. One of my favorite live recordings. Take a listen. Love and hugs xx

My view this evening whilst teaching online.
Having moved home after a huge island-wide flood that soaked our river house to shoulder height, I feel incredibly grateful to be settled again. In the garden of our new home, we have a small Joglo which is a traditional Javanese wooden house..which we’ve transformed into a cozy office.

Joglos were once built as the central pavilion in noble or spiritual homes, the tiered roofs are designed to symbolize harmony between heaven and earth. Love!

Tonight the sunset glowed over our neighbor’s temple, it feels like I am slowly breathing peace again 💜🙏🏽🌅

Although I live far from the UK, the climate here in Bali has just two seasons….sunny ☀️ and rainy. We are in winter currently but it’s just like Jersey summer!

It’s funny, here in Bali, I often chat with my students about the weather. And soon, we’re heading into that time of year again, on both sides of the globe… rainy season is similar to the west Autumn (just a lot more heat and tropical rain). It is a return to a different kind of warmth. A warmth we protect, create, and design for ourselves… one that brings peace and a sense of cosy. Love cosy winter days.

Wishing all my past and present students a happy return to a new school year, been so lovely to see all your transitions.. and my adults a safe return to either normality or freedom

Online lessons vs in-person? I often get asked this question… in my view, they both give value.. being in your own space means you’re often more relaxed and focused, and that makes a huge difference in how much you take in.

Learning technique online is no different than in person.. it’s like reading a book (I often use this analogy). Whether you’re at home or on a beach, the story stays the same.
Technique works exactly the same online as your breath, tone, and exercises all transfer perfectly.

In-person is extra valuable when we get into live mic work, stagecraft, and performance because that’s about energy, presence, and using the space around you.

One real bonus with Zoom is you get the ease of recording our sessions on the app.. many of my international clients love watching their lessons back as practice. + I often make them do that for added learning

And of course, no travel time means more energy for singing!

Here I am today about to teach someone in Australia covering everything we’d have done in the Bali Studio, online.

Overall, both are amazing!
