Jean Piaget (1896-1980) is Biologist and Psychologist from Switzerland identified 4 stages of Mental Development that chronicled young people's journeys (Cognitive Development):

1. Sensorimotor stage (Age 0-2), is when children learning through motor actions and takes place.

2. Pre operational stage (Age 3-7), is when children develop intelligence through the use of symbolic language, fantasy play and natural intuition.

3. Concrete operational stage (Age 8–11), is when children develop cognitively through the use of logic.

4. Formal operations stage (Age 12-15), is when children forming the ability to think abstractly with more complex understandings of logic, cause and effect.
