Do you know that there is a quite big presence of Chinese words from its dialects and languages?

This can be attributed to Chinese historical influence on trading, culinary, and culture brought by traders, immigrants, and settlers from Southern Min who brought mainly Hokkien, Cantonese, and Hakka to Indonesian vocabulary.

Everyone knows 'PANTAI' right? Yep! Just like Pantai Batu Bolong, Pantai Seminyak, Pantai Seseh, and so on.

Tidak? Bukan? Nggak? Enggak? Gak?

So, tidak / nggak / gak is are used if you want to negate anything but objects.

"Aku tidak makan siang hari ini. Aku tidak lapar."

"I don't eat lunch today. I'm not hungry."

Then, 'bukan' is used if you want to negate objects.

"Ini bukan makananku."
"This is not my food."

Whilst, 'bukan' doesn't have many forms, 'tidak' is quite formal and casually people will use 'enggak' / 'nggak' / 'gak' and some more other variations. Do you know some of the other variations of 'tidak'? Comment below!
