5 English phrases you probably don’t know (but people use a lot!)

When you learn English, you often study grammar and “school words”.
But in real life, people use many small phrases that are NOT in the textbook.

Here are 5 of them 👇

1. "What’s the catch?"
👉 Meaning: Is there a problem?/ Is there a secret disadvantage?
➡ Example: This phone is so cheap. What’s the catch?

2. "Give me a sec."
👉 Meaning: Wait a moment.
➡ Example: Give me a sec, I’m coming.

3. "It’s not my cup of tea."
👉 Meaning: I don’t really like it.
➡ Example: Football is not my cup of tea.

4. "To play it by ear."
👉 Meaning: Decide later. Don’t make a plan now.
➡ Example: Let’s play it by ear and see what happens.

5. "That’s a no-brainer."
👉 Meaning: It’s very easy to decide./ *It’s obvious.
➡ Example: Learning English is a no-brainer if you want to travel.

Britney Spears got a new guardian

Britney Spears is one of the most famous singers of all time and unfortunately her 2007 meltdown made her more famous. She lost control not only over herself, but also over her life and money too. This was the reason why her father was assigned as a legal guardian, which means that Britney was treated as an underage. Her money and life were controlled by her father, but now there is a change, since her father's health started to deteriorate. Now, Britney has a new guardian, who is Jodi Montgomery, her manager. Some speculated why this change happened, because many people thought that Britney lived as a prisoner for long time and maybe it is in connection with the recent change, but nobody knows the truth. One thing is for sure, there are more people to help Britney and we hope everything will be alright with her.
