📍 On-site report: Sustainability on your plate! 🍅🌿
Did you know that behind your favorite snack tomatoes there’s an entire high-tech empire? At the third stop of our FeedingFuture & Interreg-IPA CBC Hungary-Serbia Programme project, we visited the headquarters of the Délalföldi Kertészek Szövetkezete in Szentes—and honestly, we were blown away! 🤯
This wasn’t just a “veggie company,” but a 442-member community where even the smallest producer’s voice carries just as much weight as the biggest. 🤝 Here, collaboration isn’t just talk—it’s backed by €19.4 billion in turnover and 60,000 tons of fresh produce every year!
So what made this visit extra exciting? 🚀
✅ Chemical-free future: Tomatoes are grown using 100% biological plant protection—here, bugs are the “bodyguards,” not chemicals! 🐞
✅ High-tech logistics: We got a behind-the-scenes look at operations where 18–26 trucks hit the road daily, supplying top European retail chains.
✅ Green energy: Solar parks, energy storage, and heat pumps—aiming for near-total energy independence! ☀️🔋
✅ Gardeners of the future: We also checked out the brand-new experimental greenhouse block, where young talents learn cutting-edge tech through a mentoring program. 🎓🌱
Délkertész proves that agriculture isn’t “old school”—it’s an innovative, digital, and sustainable career path!
