Dr. Varga Éva Katalin a Semmelweis Egyetem Szaknyelvi Intézetének egyetemi docense, aki több évtizede meghatározó szerepet tölt be a szaknyelvoktatás és a nyelvészeti kutatások területén. Sokoldalú tudományos és oktatói munkássága az orosz, francia és latin szaknyelvhez, valamint az orvosi, fogorvosi és gyógyszerészeti terminológiához kapcsolódik.

Kutatásainak középpontjában az orvosi terminológia, a szaknyelvek működése és oktatása, valamint a különböző nyelvek közötti terminológiai és kontrasztív nyelvészeti kérdések állnak. Oktatóként és tananyag-fejlesztőként generációk szakmai nyelvi képzéséhez járult hozzá, miközben tudományos eredményeivel gazdagította a magyar és nemzetközi nyelvészeti és terminológiai kutatásokat. Aktív kutatói tevékenységén túl fontos szerepet vállal fiatal hallgatók és kutatások mentorálásában, szakdolgozati és TDK-témavezetés mellett doktori témavezetést is vállal az Egészségtudományi és az Orvostudományi Doktori Iskolában.

Kiemelkedő szakmai felkészültsége, elhivatott oktatói tevékenysége, valamint a szaknyelvi és terminológiai kutatások terén elért jelentős eredményei elismeréseként Dr. Varga Éva Katalin méltán részesül a Kiváló Kutató Díjban.👏🏆📜

👏🏆📜Dr. Éva Katalin Varga, Associate Professor at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes, Semmelweis University, has been awarded the Outstanding Researcher Award. We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved recognition and wish her continued enthusiasm and success in her future research endeavors. The laudation by Dr. Katalin Fogarasi, Director of the Institute, is presented below.

Dr. Éva Katalin Varga is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes, Semmelweis University, and has played a defining role in the fields of language-for-specific-purposes education and linguistic research for several decades. Her diverse academic and teaching activities encompass Russian, French, and Latin for specific purposes, as well as medical, dental, and pharmaceutical terminology.

Her research focuses on medical terminology, the functioning and teaching of languages for specific purposes, and terminological and contrastive linguistic issues across different languages. As an educator and developer of teaching materials, she has contributed to the professional language training of generations of students, while her scientific achievements have enriched both Hungarian and international research in linguistics and terminology. In addition to her active research work, she is deeply committed to mentoring young scholars and students. Alongside supervising undergraduate theses and Scientific Students’ Association (TDK) projects, she also serves as a doctoral supervisor in both the Doctoral School of Health Sciences and the Doctoral School of Medicine.

In recognition of her outstanding professional expertise, dedicated teaching activities, and significant achievements in language-for-specific-purposes and terminological research, Dr. Éva Katalin Varga is a truly deserving recipient of the Outstanding Researcher Award.👏🏆📜

✨A Szaknyelvi Intézet a Magyar Orvosi Nyelv folyóirat megújulásának szentelt szakmai napot szervezett 2026. június 11-én, amely egyben tisztelgés volt Prof. Dr. Bősze Péter kiemelkedő nyelvművelő munkássága előtt.✨

A Magyar Orvosi Nyelv folyóirat főszerkesztését 2025. januártól Dr. Fogarasi Katalin vette át Prof. Dr. Bereckzi Dániel orvosszakmai és főszerkesztő-helyettesi, valamint Császár Judit főszerkesztő-helyettesi támogatása mellett. A rendezvény Prof. Bősze Péter tevékenységének folytatását és a folyóirat megújulását ünnepelte, valamit rámutatott, hogy a magyar orvosi szaknyelv fejlesztése, a nevezéktani egységesítés, valamint a magyar nyelvű orvosi kommunikáció minősége továbbra is időszerű és fontos kérdések.

A délután során elhangzott előadások a magyar szaknyelvművelés XXI. századi kihívásaitól az anatómiai nevezéktan egységesítésének lehetőségein át egészen a mitológiai eredetű orvosi szakkifejezésekig számos izgalmas témát érintettek. A rendezvény keretében átadásra került a Szaknyelvi Intézet Kiváló Kutatója díj is.

✨The Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes organized a professional symposium on 11 June 2026 dedicated to the renewal of the journal Hungarian Medical Language (Magyar Orvosi Nyelv), which also served as a tribute to the outstanding contributions of Prof. Péter Bősze to the cultivation and development of the Hungarian medical language.✨

Since January 2025, the journal has been led by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Katalin Fogarasi, supported by Prof. Dániel Bereczki as Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Medical Editor, and by Judit Császár as Deputy Editor-in-Chief. The event celebrated both the continuation of Prof. Bősze’s legacy and the renewal of the journal, while highlighting that the development of Hungarian medical terminology, the standardization of nomenclature, and the quality of Hungarian-language medical communication remain timely and important issues.

The afternoon presentations covered a wide range of engaging topics, from the challenges of specialized language development in the 21st century and opportunities for the standardization of anatomical nomenclature to medical terms originating from mythology. During the event, the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes’ Outstanding Researcher Award was also presented.

📢LiP2027 – Language is Plural: Celebrating Multilingualism in Language Education📢

will take place in Vienna from 26 to 29 July 2027 and will bring together two major international events:

the FIPLV World Congress and the International Delegates’ Conference of the IDV, which will take place from 26 to 28 July 2027.

The IDV Assembly of Delegates will be held on 29 July 2027.

The conference will focus on multilingualism as a social reality and as a central concern of language education. LiP2027 invites language teachers, researchers, practitioners and representatives of language teacher associations from around the world to engage in multilingual exchange on current issues in language learning, language didactics, educational equity and language policy.

The conference is organised on behalf of the IDV and FIPLV by the Austrian Association for German as a Foreign/Second Language (ÖDaF), in cooperation with the University of Vienna. As a multilingual international conference, LiP2027 makes a strong statement in favour of recognising, promoting and valuing linguistic diversity in education and society.
