Lunar New Year ✨

Seollal (Lunar New Year) is one of Korea's two biggest holidays and marks the start of the traditional lunar calendar.

The occasion is traditionally celebrated with family gatherings, ancestral rites known as 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘺𝘦 and consumption of 𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘰𝘬𝘨𝘶𝘬, a sliced rice cake soup. In Korean culture, finishing a bowl of this soup symbolically represents aging one year and gaining wisdom.

Another major custom is 𝘴𝘦𝘣𝘢𝘦, or a prostration performed by children and younger people to the elderly, who give money in appreciation especially to youth as well as wishes for a successful year.💌
