Animation Department of MOME Budapest

MOME Anim is one of the defining creative workshops and intellectual centres of Hungarian animation. Its scope of activities cover the operation of the university department running the animation BA and MA educational programs, while its work is defined by activities that reach beyond education. Production activities are of key importance, talent management and content development set in an international network are of significant role: an important outcome is the creation and operation of incubator programs. The acquisition of research topics examining the contemporary issues related to animation film in regional, historical or other contexts is also part of the workshop’s life. Production activities are of key importance, in the framework of which animation project developments are commissioned by Hungarian and international partners, or realised in cooperation with them. For the wide public, MOME ANIM organises an animation filmfestival (KISKAKAS), as well as film premieres and exhibitions, while for the animation profession it offers conferences and other forums. The aim is to strengthen the progressive trends of Hungarian animation, and at the same time increase its international visibility and acclamation. All these processes help generations of young animation professionals to successfully start their career, and the vivification of the genre in Hungary and our European region.

Olyan sokszor fordul elő, hogy kettő filmünk is versenyez egy fesztiválon, de olyat még nem láttunk, ahol egyszerre öt diplomaprojektünket válogatta programjába egy fesztivál. Ez a pillanat is eljött, ezért nagyon hálásak vagyunk a London International Animation Fesztiválnak (LIAF)!

Aki Londonban lesz november végén, az mindenképp látogasson el az Egyesült Királyság legnagyobb és legrégebbi független animációs fesztiváljára, amely évente a kortárs kortárs animációs filmművészet legszélesebb skáláját mutatja be. A rendezvény a világ minden tájáról gyűjti össze az innovatív rövidfilmeket és egyszersmind teret ad a legkülönfélébb technikai megközelítéseknek a hagyományos stop-motiontől a digitális 3D-ig. Gazdag versenyprogramja és szakmai pódiumbeszélgetései révén a fesztivál kihagyhatatlan találkozási pontot jelent mind a szakmabeli alkotók, mind a kísérletező animációk iránt érdeklődő közönség számára.

It often happens that two of our films compete at the same festival, but we’ve never seen a festival select five of our diploma projects for its program all at once. That moment has come, and we are immensely grateful to the London International Animation Festival (LIAF)!

We warmly invite you to a masterclass by guest lecturer Kangmin Kim, taking place as part of the MOME Anim BA BARK – From Sound To Entity course week.
Kangmin Kim is a filmmaker, designer, and the Program Director of the Experimental Animation Faculty at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). With extensive experience in both stop motion and motion graphics, his work uniquely blends handcrafted characters with digitally designed environments.
During his masterclass at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, he will present a selection of his short films and introduce his recent commercial projects, highlighting the creative journey of transforming ideas into moving images.

People + Research
A design világa folyamatosan változik, és az AI megjelenésével új eszközök, módszerek és gondolkodásmódok kerültek a kezünkbe. A P+R arra hív, hogy lépj ki a megszokott rutinból, nézz körül, inspirálódj más területekből és fedezd fel, hogyan alakíthatják az új lehetőségek a tervezés jövőjét. Design, művészet és párbeszéd 3 napon át.
A P+R három napon keresztül ad teret a találkozásnak, a tudásmegosztásnak és a felfedezésnek. Két terem, több mint 30 előadó és változatos programok várják a résztvevőket a Puskin Moziban: szakmai előadások, kerekasztal-beszélgetések, filmvetítések és további programok a design és a művészet határterületeiről.

Világhírű nemzetközi produkciókban dolgozó alkotóktól tanulhatnak a MOME Open résztvevői három, a MOME Film Központtal együttműködésben indult új tanfolyamain. A 3D Animátor képzésen Brovinszki László, a Lipthay Studio alapítója, a Mr. Bean animációs sorozatának egyik animátora és Czakó Judit többszörös Arany olló- és Balázs Béla-díjas filmvágó tanít majd, míg a VFX Artist résztvevői a közel húszéves hazai és nemzetközi tapasztalattal rendelkező Záhonyi Andor VFX supervisortól tanulhatnak. Záhonyi legutóbbi munkái az új Odüsszeiájához, az új Blade Runner 2099, és a Dune harmadik részéhez kapcsolódnak. Az Unreal Engine for Filmmaking – Virtual Production oktatói között pedig Déri Miklós, a DIGIC Pictures senior 3D generalistája osztja meg tapasztalatait, aki a Halo, a Dűne és a Szegény párák produkcióiban is dolgozott.
A képzések a Nemzeti Filmintézet Zrt. támogatásával valósulnak meg.

Ezúton is szeretnénk meghívni titeket a MOME INTRO: A gondoskodás rétegei című kiállítás megnyitójára holnap 17:00-kor az editoryban (1084 Budapest, Déri Miksa utca 6.).

A MOME INTRO kiállítássorozat célja, hogy betekintést nyújtson a BA képzéseinken folyó munkába. Az idei kiállításon mind a kilenc alapszak hallgatóinak, nyílt pályázaton kiválasztott projektjei szerepelnek. Sokuk számára ez jelenti az első nyilvános bemutatkozási lehetőséget az egyetemen kívül. A tárlat ezúttal a gondoskodás különböző rétegeit vizsgálja, személyes, társadalmi és környezeti nézőpontokból.

The MOME INTRO exhibition series aims to offer an insight into the work taking place across our BA programs. This year’s exhibition features projects selected through an open call from students of all nine bachelor’s programs. For many of them, this represents their first public showcase outside the university. This time, the exhibition explores the various layers of care through personal, societal, and environmental lenses.

Tegnap stúdiólátogatáson jártunk a DIGIC Pictures világhírű műhelyében. Nagyon köszönjük, hogy bevillantást nyerhettünk a mindennapjaikba. A budapesti székhelyű DIGIC Pictures a világ egyik vezető 3D animációs és visual effects (VFX) stúdiója, amely elsősorban videojáték-előzeteseiről, in-game animációiról, valamint nagyszabású hollywoodi és streaming produkciókhoz készített vizuális effektusairól nemzetközileg elismert. Munkáik között szerepelnek olyan nagyszabású filmek, mint a Dűne (Dune - 2021), a Szegény párák (Poor Things - 2023) vagy a Halo (Paramount+).
