Ma van a balkezesek vilågnapja: így lehet jobbå tenni szåmukra a munkakörnyezetet - HR Portål 13/08/2026

On World Left-Handers Day, Emma Lógó, head of the Department of Ergonomics and Psychology at BME’s Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, discusses the workplace challenges faced by left-handed people.
Many tools, workstations and processes are still designed with right-handed users in mind. Over time, having to adapt to these environments can create unnecessary physical and cognitive strain, particularly when tasks are repetitive or require precision.
Lógó emphasises that left-handedness should not be viewed either as a disadvantage or as a “superpower”. Frequent adaptation to a predominantly right-handed world may help develop flexibility and problem-solving skills, but this should not be confused with an inherent advantage.
She advocates for a “design for all” approach, in which human differences—including hand dominance—are considered from the outset when workplaces, tools and equipment are designed.

The interview with Dr LĂłgĂł was originally published in Hungarian by HR Portal at https://www.hrportal.hu/hr/ma-van-a-balkezesek-vilagnapja-igy-lehet-jobba-tenni-szamukra-a-munkakornyezetet-20260813.html

Ferenc RĂĄkĂłczi II’s House in Tekirdağ, TĂŒrkiye, Surveyed by BME Architecture Students 12/08/2026

Organising architectural surveying camps abroad is a long-standing tradition at BME’s Department for History of Architecture and Monument Preservation, with previous projects taking place in Burgundy and Transylvania, among other locations. This year, commemorating the 350th anniversary of the birth of Ferenc RĂĄkĂłczi II, students from PĂĄzmĂĄny PĂ©ter Catholic University and Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and the local Namık Kemal University joined the BME project to survey his “dining house” in Tekirdağ, TĂŒrkiye.

The project was coordinated by the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre in Istanbul.
GergƑ MĂĄtĂ© KovĂĄcs, deputy director of the Liszt Institute, a BME Faculty of Architecture alumnus and alumni speaker at BME’s International Graduation Ceremony in July, talks about the project here: https://www.bme.hu/en/news/260812/bme-epk-survey-camp-turkiye-tekirdag-ferenc-rakoczi

If you're wondering why Paks Nuclear Power Station has been in the news in Hungary lately, Attila AszĂłdi., dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and full professor at the Institute of Nuclear Techniques at BME, explains.

Due to the extremely low water level of the Danube, Paks Nuclear Power Station is currently operating at only minimal capacity, and a further drop in the water level may soon force the shutdown of the last remaining turbine.
However, this does not mean that the power station would be left without cooling. If the system used for normal power generation can no longer operate, separate safety systems can continue to cool the reactors and the spent fuel pools. As a further precaution, floating ‘Pajtás’ pumps are being installed to provide additional cooling water if needed in case of further drop of the water level in the Danube.
