During two weeks together in Uganda with Sudanese refugees, we learnt about growth after trauma, deep resilience, and the power of community.

Waking up to the colourful weaver birds’ chatter and looking out at the green fields of the training venue, our mornings near the source of the White Nile started off in a peaceful and expectant way.

Then we dived into psychoeducational workshops, mindful movement (yoga) and breathwork sessions, and the real magic happened in being together with an open heart and mind.

Through a training programme for youth and a separate one for women, we held each other with great care while listening with our hearts, allowing narratives of war and personal suffering as well as hardened beliefs to transform and make way for healing.

When we see each other in our human wholeness, we sow the seeds of transformation and communal wellbeing. May there be peace, aum salam salam salam.

Huge thanks to our Sudanese partners at Hope for Psychosocial Support and the generous donor who made these trainings possible and memorable.

Nathalie and Eszter met in Sudan, and it’s this exceptional and deeply complex place that started them off on their friendship. This and their care for the suffering and joy of being human is what has shaped the retreat they're bringing to Spain this July.

Nathalie is a trauma-informed psychotherapist who has held space for activists, journalists, and human rights defenders across Sudan, Egypt, and Uganda. Eszter spent years in humanitarian communications before finding her way to embodied yoga and meditation.

✦ Together they bring warmth, deep listening, and a combined knowing of what it means to carry a lot, and what it feels like to gently set it down.

In Madremanya, a medieval village in the Costa Brava, they will create a space that is welcoming, non-judgmental, and held enough for your nervous system to exhale. And also joyful and playful. There will be beach days and tapas and laughter alongside the deeper work.

This is for women who haven't looked away from what's difficult and heartbreaking in the world and need a circle to process it, rest in, and come back to themselves.

The mind is a brilliant, and often extremely stubborn, storyteller. It will take you to worst-case scenarios, loop the same worries on repeat, and convince you there's no way out.

But all you may need is noticing your body and its sensations.

✦ Body-based practices – yoga, breathwork, mindfulness meditation – work because they bring your attention back to what's actually happening right now, not what your mind is predicting or replaying.

When you focus on sensations like the light in the room, sounds, the soles of the feet on the ground, it helps the nervous system return to what’s called a “regulated state,” a space where it doesn’t have to be “on alert” all the time, looking for potential or envisioned risk and danger.

There are countless practices supporting a feeling of grounding and centring, and each practice may work differently for you and for me.

This July we're gathering in Madremanya, a medieval village in the Costa Brava of Spain, for six days of movement, deep listening, intentional rest, and yes -- tapas, beach, and joy too.

This retreat is for women who haven't looked away from what's been happening in the world and need a circle to process it, rest in, and come back to themselves.

Van, amikor jól esik tudatosan, minden érzékszervünkkel figyelve mozogni. Vagy egyszerűen csak megállni, figyelni, csendben lenni. Erre hívunk a Metta Mandala Stúdióba, rendszeres óráinkra.

🌙 Vezetett mindfulness meditáció | hétfőnként 18:00–19:00
Eben az egy órában folyamatosan vizsgáljuk, hogy mi jelenik meg: testi érzetek, érzések, gondolatok. Majd kb. 20 perces vezetett meditáció következik. Mire számíthatsz még? Ítélkezésmentességre, gyengéd elfogadásra, és ha szeretnéd, a megosztókörben is aktívan részt vehetsz.

☀️ Mozgástól a csendig | keddenként 07:30–08:30
Lassú, finom jóga- és légzőgyakorlatok után elérkezünk a vezetett meditációhoz, az éber, jelenléttel teli üléshez. A mozgás valójában eszköz, a cél a tudat elcsendesítése. A fogalkozáson a jóga és a vezetett meditációs gyakorlás egyenlő időtartamban van jelen.

A foglalkozások traumatudatos szemléletben épülnek fel, hogy mindenki biztonságban érezhesse magát. Adamcsek Alíz és Farkas Eszter szeretettel várnak kezdőket és régóta gyakorlókat egyaránt, és a foglalkozásokat az oktatók hetente váltakozva tartják.
