🪖🌍How does the war in Iran impact Europe?

This question was examined at the War in Iran – Strategic Shockwaves: Implications for Europe conference, organized by the Directorate General for International Affairs at Ludovika University of Public Service on the 9th of June.
Bringing together experts from diplomacy, research institutions, the main factors for both short and long-term consequences of this ongoing conflict were addressed. Discussions focused on energy security, the stability of global supply chains, EU-Iran relations, transatlantic cooperation, and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz.

📌 As unpredictibility continues to shape that geopolitical environment, another question emerges: can diplomacy still prevent further escalation?

☕️📚 Cup of Literature with Marek Magierowski, former Polish Ambassador to the USA and Israel.

His chosen book, The Seventh Million: The Israelis and the Holocaust by Tom Segev, reflects on how emigrated Holocaust survivors were received and treated by Israelis and Jewish communities in Israel at that time. During his three-year service as Ambassador in Israel, he felt a personal connection to the traumatic history of those individuals.

The core message is that readers can gain a clearer and more in-depth understanding of Israel’s current domestic and foreign policy orientation through this historical perspective.

The global balance of power is shifting, as the world moves through a major transformation. In Easternisation, Gideon Rachman highlights how Western dominance is gradually declining while the influence of the East is rapidly rising, with China and India becoming key drivers of global geopolitics and economics. At the same time, regional institutions such as the Organization of Turkic States are playing a growing role in shaping a more multipolar world order.

By the East–West transformation being a current phenomena, it makes this book inevitable for understanding the direction of international affairs.
