Evening discussion at Ludovika Campus 🌿

During the V4 Diplomatic Academy, we met in our park, at Buttler Terrace, for a discussion with Dr. Marian Šuplata on the European Union from the inside, and how decisions are made in Brussels.

A very nice setting for a conversation on EU institutions, diplomacy and the practical side of European politics 🇪🇺

Workshops are always the part where the real conversations begin 🎓

As part of the V4 Diplomatic Academy, participants joined parallel sessions on journalism today, the future of European security, and disinformation as one of the key challenges for our societies.

Many thanks to Mr. András Siklós, Dr. Małgorzata Bonikowska, and Dr. Paweł Pawłowski for sharing their experience and perspectives with our students.

A very good afternoon at Ludovika, full of questions, discussion and fresh ideas 🌍🤝

🪖🌍How does the war in Iran impact Europe?

This question was examined at the War in Iran – Strategic Shockwaves: Implications for Europe conference, organized by the Directorate General for International Affairs at Ludovika University of Public Service on the 9th of June.
Bringing together experts from diplomacy, research institutions, the main factors for both short and long-term consequences of this ongoing conflict were addressed. Discussions focused on energy security, the stability of global supply chains, EU-Iran relations, transatlantic cooperation, and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz.

📌 As unpredictibility continues to shape that geopolitical environment, another question emerges: can diplomacy still prevent further escalation?

☕️📚 Cup of Literature with Marek Magierowski, former Polish Ambassador to the USA and Israel.

His chosen book, The Seventh Million: The Israelis and the Holocaust by Tom Segev, reflects on how emigrated Holocaust survivors were received and treated by Israelis and Jewish communities in Israel at that time. During his three-year service as Ambassador in Israel, he felt a personal connection to the traumatic history of those individuals.

The core message is that readers can gain a clearer and more in-depth understanding of Israel’s current domestic and foreign policy orientation through this historical perspective.

The International Office of Ludovika University of Public Service organized its now traditional Erasmus Staff Week program series between May 19 and 21.
Our guests arrived from various countries: we welcomed staff members from our partnering universities in Belgium, Kenya, China, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland and Türkiye.
During the three-day event, participants received a comprehensive overview of the university’s operations, met faculty coordinators, and learned about the structure and educational opportunities of the various faculties. Alongside the professional programs, participants also become acquainted with specialties of Hungarian cuisine, and had the opportunity to visit the city’s main landmarks, including the Hungarian Parliament Building.
