Women with endometriosis may lose a month’s salary each year
Pain and fatigue can lead to more frequent absences from work and reduced job performance among women with endometriosis. A new Semmelweis University study found that those affected lose an average of €1,757 in income each year due to work absences, roughly equivalent to one month’s average salary in Hungary.
Participants identified menstrual leave and flexible work arrangements as the forms of workplace support that would help them most.

🎓 The Clinical Science Scholars program launches for the fourth time at Semmelweis University
84 early-career clinicians, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and residents have begun Harvard Medical School’s nine-month program at Semmelweis University. Participants have arrived from Hungary and primarily from across Central and Eastern Europe.
The program develops essential clinical research skills, from study design and biostatistics to scientific writing, leadership, and teamwork.

🔬 How can genetics help make osteoporosis treatment safer?
Research by Dr. Bence Bojtor, resident in internal medicine at Semmelweis University, has received the Semmelweis Innovation Award for advancing our understanding of a rare but serious side effect associated with antiresorptive therapy.
His findings could contribute to the development of a genetics-based risk assessment test, helping physicians and patients make more informed decisions before starting treatment. Ultimately, this research may support safer osteoporosis care while giving more patients confidence to receive therapies that can protect their bone health.
