📚 Kutathatóak Litván György Jászi Oszkárhoz kapcsolódó iratai

A Blinken OSA Archivumban már kutatható a Litván György-gyűjtemény elsőként katalogizált sorozata, amely a 2006-ban elhunyt történész Jászi Oszkárral kapcsolatos, több évtizedes kutatómunkájának dokumentumait tartalmazza. Az anyagban Jászi műveinek és levelezésének másolatai, politikai gondolkodásának forrásai, valamint Litván kutatási és publikációs anyagai egyaránt megtalálhatók.

A sorozat különlegessége, hogy egyszerre dokumentálja Jászi Oszkár életművének kutatását és Litván György történészi munkásságát. Litván számára Jászi és a századforduló radikális-demokratikus gondolkodóinak világa nem csupán tudományos érdeklődés tárgya volt: olyan szellemi hagyományt jelentett, amely saját családi és személyes örökségéhez is szorosan kapcsolódott.

📚 György Litván’s Oscar Jászi Research Materials Now Accessible

The first cataloged series of the György Litván Collection is now available for research at the Blinken OSA Archivum. The materials are the result of the late historian’s decades-long research on Oscar Jászi and include copies of Jászi’s writings and correspondence, sources on his political thought, as well as Litván’s own research and publication materials.

The series offers a unique perspective on both Jászi’s intellectual legacy and Litván’s scholarly career. For Litván, Jászi and the radical democratic thinkers of the turn of the twentieth century represented more than an academic interest: his research was rooted in intellectual traditions deeply connected to his own family heritage and personal experience.

📚 A Special Visit to the Blinken OSA Archivum

On July 27, we had the pleasure of welcoming Rachel and Adam Shub to the Blinken OSA Archivum during their travels through Central Europe.

The Shub family has a distinguished place in the history of journalism and broadcasting. Their grandfather, David Shub (1887–1973), was a noted historian and journalist, while their father, Anatole Shub (1928–2006), served as News Director at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and authored several influential works on Russia. Following his passing, Rachel and Adam generously donated part of their father's library on Tsarist and Soviet Russia to the Archivum, where it is now preserved as the Anatole Shub Special Library Collection.

During their visit, Senior Archivist Márk László-Herbert guided them through the Goldberger House and the RFE/RL archival repositories. Slavic Archivist Katerina Belenkina also joined the tour and conversation, adding valuable insights throughout the visit. The occasion offered an opportunity to revisit family memories and reconnect with a collection that preserves an important part of the Shub family's legacy.

Béketér – A független Dialógus-békecsoport - kiállítás / On Peace Square: The Peace Group for Dialogue - Exhibition

A Dialógus-békecsoport párbeszédet akart kialakítani Nyugat Európa és a keleti blokk békemozgalmai között. Innen a név: felfogásuk szerint a béke a vasfüggönyön átívelő közös ügy volt. Ezért törekedtek itthon együttműködni az államapparátussal, külföldön pedig nemzetközi kapcsolatokat fenntartani.

1983 nyarán nemzetközi béketábort szerveztek, amelyre nyugati vendégeket, többek közt az angliai Greenham Common támaszpont ellen tiltakozó aktivista nőket is meghívták. A kitűzött időpont előtt azonban a debreceni kemping visszamondta a foglalásukat, és bárkit kerestek meg, elutasítással találkoztak; ma már tudjuk, hogy az állambiztonság közbenjárásának köszönhetően. A tábor végül budapesti nyilvános strandokon "nyílt meg", mígnem civil ruhás rendőrök véget nem vetettek neki, a külföldi vendégeket egyenesen a határra szállítva.

Ezt követően volt kénytelen a Dialógus-békecsoport elismerni, hogy eredeti elképzelésük egy az állammal együttműködő, de független szerveződésről nem megvalósítható. Részletek az Állambiztonsági Szolgálatok Történeti Levéltáraval közös Béketér c. kiállításunkon!

The Peace Group for Dialogue sought to foster a dialogue between peace movements in Western Europe and the Eastern Bloc. Hence the name: they believed that peace was a shared cause transcending the Cold War divide. They aimed to cooperate with state authorities while maintaining international relationships.

In the summer of 1983, the group organized an international peace camp, also welcoming participants from the West, including the activists of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. Shortly before the scheduled opening, however, the campsite in East Hungary cancelled their reservation, and alternative venues refused to host them as well; we now know that this was the result of a state security intervention. The camp started, finally, at open-air baths, in Budapest, but plainclothes police officers soon put an end to it, transporting foreign guests directly to the border.

This was when the Peace Group for Dialogue had to acknowledge that their original vision of an organization independent of the state yet able to cooperate with it was not viable. A Blinken OSA Archivum gyűjteménye a Privát Fotó és Film Alapítvány (PFFA) szöveges irataival bővült. Az újonnan kutatható anyagok – pályázatok, munkatervek, módszertani útmutatók, interjúk és antropológiai tanulmányok – betekintést nyújtanak abba, hogyan született meg Magyarország egyik legjelentősebb családi fotó- és amatőrfilm-gyűjteménye.

A Bán András és Forgács Péter által 1982-ben alapított kezdeményezés felismerte, hogy a családi fényképek és amatőrfilmek a 20. századi magyar történelem pótolhatatlan mikrotörténeti forrásai. A gyűjteményt 1998 óta őrzi a Blinken OSA Archivum, amely most a kezdeményezés történetét és szellemi hátterét bemutató dokumentumokkal gazdagodott.

📷 A family photo album is more than a collection of memories - it is also a historical source.

The Blinken OSA Archivum's collection has been expanded with the textual records of the Privát Fotó és Film Alapítvány (Private Photo and Film Foundation, PFFA). Newly available grant files, project plans, methodological papers, interview transcripts, and anthropological writings offer insight into the origins of one of Hungary's most significant collections of home movies and amateur photographs.

Founded in 1982 by András Bán and Péter Forgács, the initiative recognized that family photographs and home movies are invaluable microhistorical sources that preserve everyday life and personal experiences often absent from official records. Since 1998, the collection has been preserved at the Blinken OSA Archivum, and it has now been enriched with documents that reveal the project's history and intellectual foundations.

📚 Nyári nyitvatartás a Kutatóteremben / Summer Research Room Opening Hours

Kedves Kutatóink!

A nyári időszakban a Kutatóterem nyitvatartása az alábbiak szerint módosul:
• Júliusban péntekenként 14:00 órakor zárunk (a hét többi napján a megszokott nyitvatartás érvényes).
• Augusztus 3. és szeptember 1. között a Kutatóterem zárva tart, online szolgáltatásaink is szünetelnek.
• Szeptember 2-től ismét a megszokott rend szerint várjuk Önöket.
A zárvatartás ideje alatt online gyűjteményeink és a Katalógusban elérhető digitális dokumentumok továbbra is böngészhetők.
A Centrális Galéria nyitvatartása nem változik: a Béketér című kiállítás továbbra is keddtől vasárnapig látogatható.
