🔵 A shared understanding of terrorism threats is essential for effective regional cooperation.
Through the project, CEPOL organised the third Counter-Terrorism Support Network (CTSN) workshop, bringing together counter-terrorism specialists from across the Western Balkans to advance the Regional Terrorism Situation and Trend Report.
Building on the progress achieved during previous CTSN workshops, the network continues to strengthen regional analytical . The report is being developed using a common methodology established with the support of Europol, helping partners build a shared understanding of evolving threats across the region.

♻️ Illegal waste transport has become a global issue that requires coordinated efforts from multiple countries.
In ’s special edition of the European Law Enforcement Research Bulletin dedicated to environmental crime, Michal Cikhart and Jana Janovcova provide a comprehensive introduction to environmental crime and illegal cross-border waste trafficking, focusing on EU legislation designed to combat these phenomena.
Their article, ‘Combating environmental crime: illegal cross-border waste transport and utilising modern technologies’, examines the scale of illegal waste trafficking, the EU’s legal and operational response, and the role of key EU tools such as SOCTA, EMPACT and SIENA.
📊 Drawing on Eurostat data and real-world examples from the Slovak police 🇸🇰, the authors show how modern technologies, including drones, lidar and photogrammetry, can support the detection and investigation of environmental crime.

🇪🇺 🇫🇷 This week, our Executive Director, Jan Pecháček, welcomed H.E. Jonathan Joël Robert Lacôte, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Hungary, to ’s headquarters in Budapest.
✅ The Ambassador received an overview of the Agency’s work in law enforcement training, including recent developments and future plans. The meeting also offered an opportunity to explore ways to further strengthen our cooperation.

🇪🇺 🇵🇱 ’s Executive Director, Jan Pecháček, has received a bronze medal from the Polish Police in recognition of the agency's contribution to strengthening law enforcement cooperation in the EU and beyond through training.The medal was presented by the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police during the national Police Day celebrations in Warsaw on 24 July.
🤝 While in Poland, Jan Pecháček also held discussions with our partners on ways to strengthen future cooperation and visited the Police Training Centre in Legionowo.
