🌐✨ On the Border Between Humans and Machines – the project website is now live
The research initiative of Pázmány Péter Catholic University examines how artificial intelligence can be responsibly integrated into society from anthropological, ethical, legal and technological perspectives. 🤖📚
The project is being implemented through international cooperation, with our key transatlantic partner, The Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.). 🌍🤝 The aim goes beyond the research programme of a single institution: we are building a professional and institutional network in which theological–philosophical anthropology, ethics, law, and cutting-edge research on AI safety and interpretability mutually reinforce one another, contributing to the responsible integration of new technologies into society.

🌍 “Laboratories of Hope” – Pázmány at the FUCE General Assembly in Zagreb
Representing Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Vice Rector for International Affairs and Scientific Organization Rev. Dr. Krisztián Vincze and Dr. Kristóf Iván, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics, participated in the General Assembly of the Federation of European Catholic Universities (FUCE), held in Zagreb between 20–22 May 2026.
Hosted by the Catholic University of Croatia, this year’s assembly focused on the inspiring role of Catholic universities in challenging times.
A key message of the conference came from Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, who emphasized that Catholic universities must become “laboratories of hope” in the age of artificial intelligence and the technocratic paradigm — placing ethics, human dignity, and responsibility at the center of education and research.
During the panel on digital transformation and sustainability, Dr. Kristóf Iván presented PPKE’s experiences and initiatives in the field of AI integration, highlighting:
▪️ the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics as a testing environment for AI implementation,
▪️ innovative postgraduate AI programs for non-engineers,
▪️ and the ethical responsibility of Catholic universities in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
The assembly also provided an opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships and discuss future international collaborations within the FUCE network.

🚀 Strengthening Academic Relations: PPKE Hosts Ukrainian Catholic University Delegation Under Erasmus+ Program 🤝🌍
Dr. Bence Tamássy, head of the Central Office for Foreign Affairs at PPKE, and Valéria Kabak-Guba, institutional Erasmus+ coordinator, hosted colleagues from the Law School at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv who are visiting our university as part of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program. 🎓✈️
Our University has long maintained good relations with the Ukrainian Catholic University, which we have managed to sustain and expand into new areas even amid the difficult circumstances of recent years. Thus, in addition to the aforementioned legal cooperation, there is also a joint Erasmus+ project in the field of psychology, and the dean of the Faculty of Theology at UCU also visited our University last year. 📚🤝
The parties reviewed opportunities for joint cooperation, with particular regard to the so-called “solidarity service-learning” program, which our University is also seeking to implement as widely as possible. The Legal Clinic program at the Ukrainian Catholic University, in which students provide legal assistance to war veterans and the relatives of those who died in the war, is considered an exemplary practice in this field. ⚖️💙

🚀Akadémiai kapcsolatok erősítése: a PPKE az Erasmus+ program keretében az Ukrán Katolikus Egyetem delegációját fogadta🤝🌍
Dr. Tamássy Bence, a PPKE Központi Külügyi Osztályának vezetője és Kabak-Guba Valéria Erasmus+ intézményi koordinátor vendégül látták a JÁK-on az Erasmus+ Nemzetközi Kreditmobilitás Program keretében Egyetemünkön tartózkodó kollégákat a lvivi Ukrán Katolikus Egyetem Jogi Karáról. 🎓✈️
A felek áttekintették a közös együttműködési lehetőségeket, különös tekintettel az ún. "solidarity service-learning" programra, amelyet Egyetemünk is próbál minél szélesebb körben bevezetni. Az Ukrán Katolikus Egyetem Jogklinika programja, amelynek keretében a hallgatók jogi segítséget nyújtanak a háborús veteránok, ill. a háborúban elhunytak hozzátartozóinak, példaértékű gyakorlatnak számít ezen a területen. ⚖️💙

🌍 Strengthening international cooperation in social work and social pedagogy!
Pázmány Péter Catholic University recently welcomed a delegation of students and faculty members from the Catholic University of Applied Sciences of North Rhine-Westphalia (KATHO, Germany) for a week-long professional program in Budapest.
During the visit, participants took part in joint lectures, seminars, institutional visits, and professional discussions focusing on contemporary challenges in social work, child protection, addiction care, digitalization, and youth support services.
The program created valuable opportunities for academic dialogue, intercultural exchange, and future cooperation between the two universities — including student and faculty mobility, joint teaching and research projects, and future International Week programs.
We are grateful for this inspiring collaboration and look forward to continuing our shared work in building an international academic community committed to social responsibility and human dignity. 🤝
