The CIEE Fall 2017 group had a memorable 4-day excursion to Transylvania in the middle of October. We visited the Kalotaszeg (Țara Călatei in Romanian) region where our wonderful hosts treated us to mouth-watering, regional home-made food and drink. With the help of three CIEE students they also presented us the traditional costumes worn on feast days in the previous centuries. What a time travel!

The group made a trip to Torda (Turda in Romanian) and we had an amazing view of the Turda gorge as well. We also climbed up to the nearby fortress in Torockószentgyörgy (Coltești) along a way colored by beautiful autumn trees and enjoyed the fascinating scenery from the ruins on the top of the hill.

In Körösfő (Izvoru Crișuluistudents) had the chance to glimpse into how Albert, the craftsman makes chess pieces within minutes and then purchase them to bring them home for a perfect souvenir!

Travelling by carriages drawn by horses in an area nestled among mountain ranges as the sun kissed the horizon definitely crowned our unforgettable excursion to Transylvania!
