Dr. Péter János Sós, Honorary Professor of Kodolányi János University, participated in the International Week of Caucasus University in Tbilisi between 1–5 June 2026 in the framework of Erasmus+ mobility. Caucasus University has long been a partner institution of KJU, and many Georgian students have already studied at our university with Erasmus+ scholarships.

The programme of the International Week was exceptionally rich. In addition to the usual institutional presentations, the participating faculty members and international staff arriving from 32 countries had the opportunity to experience firsthand the initiatives that Caucasus University has introduced to enhance the quality of education, including international dual-degree programmes, academic developments, and activities initiated and managed by university students.

On the first day of the event, Dr. Sós delivered a detailed presentation on Kodolányi János University, covering its history, achievements, and current status. He also participated in the International Fair held as part of the programme, where representatives of each participating country could meet interested students and distribute promotional materials and gifts. In addition to the souvenirs provided by KJU, visitors could also receive brochures introducing Hungary, thanks to the Hungarian ambassador accredited in Tbilisi. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her support.

In addition, Dr. Sós delivered lectures to students of Caucasus University. The topic selected by the hosts, the growing role of public relations in the age of artificial intelligence, was highly relevant to students majoring in marketing and media. Hungary and Georgia share similarities in several respects, including the names of our countries. Furthermore, many Hungarians have left their mark on Georgia: for example, there is a statue of Mihály Zichy and a street named after Sándor Petőfi in Tbilisi.

Following his mobility, Dr. Sós concluded that it is well worth maintaining and further strengthening the relationship between our universities. We look forward to welcoming more Georgian students to KJU in the future and to expanding our cooperation through joint courses and research projects.

Judit Horváth, a staff member of the Language Competence and Language Examination Centre of KJU, taught at the Faculty of Business and Tourism in Budva, Montenegro, within the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility programme.
During the teaching mobility, which took place from 1 to 5 June 2026, there was an excellent opportunity for intensive professional and intercultural exchange at the partner institution. Special thanks go to Dragana Zečević for the outstanding organisation and hospitality.
The lectures and professional discussions focused on the challenges of Montenegro’s accession to the European Union, migration processes, and the specific features of the euro's adoption in a country that is not yet a member of the EU, despite already using the euro as its official currency. The mobility experience helped participants gain a better understanding of different perspectives and a deeper insight into regional developments.
The ongoing European integration process in Montenegro, together with current political events such as the visit of Emmanuel Macron to the Western Balkans and regional summits, highlights the strategic importance of the region. The topics discussed during the mobility programme - migration, the use of the euro, and the challenges of EU accession - provided students and the local academic community with relevant and up-to-date knowledge. These exchanges contributed to fostering an international outlook and to a better understanding of the region’s European integration process.

It was a pleasure to welcome to KJU Dr. Ilias Majdouline, Vice President of Academic Affairs & Research, Dean of Polytechnic School of Engineers at one of our newest partner institutions, Universiapolis - International University of Agadir, Morocco. Dr. Majdouline visited KJU for Erasmus+ staff mobility. Cooperation between our universities can create valuable opportunities for student and staff mobility, building on both institutions’ strong commitment to internationalization. The partnership can be particularly beneficial in tourism and hospitality, business administration, and international studies, as both institutions offer programmes in these fields. Students can gain intercultural competencies by studying in two distinct regions, Central Europe and North Africa, enhancing their employability in the international labour market. The universities’ shared interests also provide opportunities for faculty members to collaborate on research related to sustainable tourism, hospitality management, intercultural communication, and regional development, while sharing innovative teaching practices.

Between 19 April and 2 May 2026, Dr. Márk Sólyom completed a two-week Erasmus+ staff mobility visit at Xi’an International University in China. During the official Erasmus+ mobility week, he delivered a lecture entitled “The European Hunnic Empire (375–455 CE)” to an audience of approximately 80-100 faculty members and students. The topic generated particular interest, as the Huns (Xiongnu), who captured and plundered Xi’an in 316 CE, remain an important part of Chinese historical education.
Beyond his academic activities, Dr. Sólyom immersed himself in traditional Chinese culture by attending university courses on Chinese heritage, participating in tai chi training, learning to play the seven-string guqin, practicing Chinese calligraphy, and exploring the rich traditions of Chinese tea culture. He also took part in the university’s International Center Cultural Week and joined international faculty and students on an excursion to a nearby open-air museum.
During the second week of his stay, he visited some of China’s most remarkable historical sites, including the world-famous Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the summer palace and bathing complex associated with Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, and the Shaanxi History Museum, where he explored priceless Qin, Han, and Tang dynasty artifacts, including the renowned “Hunnic Gold Monster.” He also discovered the historic old city of Xi’an, once the capital of China and the eastern terminus of the Silk Road, with its impressive city walls and Taoist, Buddhist, and Islamic monuments.
The visit provided valuable opportunities to expand his historical and cultural knowledge, strengthen international academic connections, practice English, and gain insights into Chinese educational approaches and teaching methods. During his stay, he also met with university leaders, including Dean Dr. Guo Xinhua, who earned his doctorate at ELTE in Budapest. During his stay, Vice Dean Hu Jianhua presented Dr. Márk Sólyom with a visiting professorship appointment letter, aiming for deeper cooperation between the two universities in faculty and student exchanges in the future.
Dr. Sólyom expresses his sincere gratitude to Ms. Pan Jianghao from the International Center for her outstanding support in organizing the program and helping him navigate daily life in Xi’an.
