MATE Student Union and Youth Together Association is excited to announce an upcoming workshop focused on Active Youth Participation in Social and Democratic Life! 🎉

🗓️ Date: February 23, 2025 (Sunday)
⏰ Time: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Might change – stay tuned!)
📍 Venue: Gorka, Building B, 2100 Gödöllő, Páter K. u. 1
💡 Type: Non-formal and informal workshops. This is a fantastic opportunity to delve into crucial topics and develop skills to become more engaged and impactful members of our society.
👥 Limited to: 40 MATE students with active status (preferably 20 Hungarian and 20 international students!)

How to Apply:
We’ll select participants based on the application form and cover letter. The Youth Together Association board and Berill Elizabet Kinik, board member responsible for foreign affairs at MATE Student Union, will review all applications and cover letters, so put your best foot forward!

Important info:
* The event is free of charge! This exciting and highly valuable program is offered by the Youth Together Association, which is a non-profit organisation.
* Berill Elizabet Kinik will give a brief (10-15 minute) introduction about the Student Union at the beginning of the event.

In more words; relaxation, stunning views, smiling, joy, sunny weather, hiking, sometimes sweating, but enjoying every moment and slowing down a bit in such a peaceful environment.

🏫 Students came from Gödöllő, Buda, Kaposvár, Gyöngyös campuses and even from ELTE University.

The trip was planned and led by me. Keep an eye on advertisements not to miss the following experience! The weather is slowly getting warmer so more places to visit are on the check-list. 😉

UPDATE 1:
Students from Kaposvár campus can join the group in Siófok by taking the 9602 IR train at 8:15 in Kaposvár, making a transfer between 9:14-9:24 in Fonyód to 877 IC and leaving to Siófok, where arrival is at 10:01.

Dear Students! 🌲👟

Join us for an exciting winter hike on December 21! ❄️

Departure:
🚉 We’ll depart from Nyugati Railway Station at 8:12 AM on the EC 130 train to Nógrád.
🚉 Those joining from Vác can take the S750 train departing at 8:38 AM.

Arrival:
⏱️ We’ll arrive in Nógrád at 9:17 AM. From there, we’ll follow the blue trail up to the peak of Csóványos and descend to Diósjenő.

Return:
🚉 From Diósjenő, we’ll take a train back to Vác, and then to Nyugati.

Distance:
📏 20 km. The route involves some elevation gain but is not particularly challenging.

Useful information:
✔️ For those who need it, this hike counts as a PE make-up activity!
✔️ The price of the Hungarian discounted pass for those under 25 is 1890 HUF (valid ID required).
✔️ Tickets and passes can be purchased online via the MÁV mobile app or from ticket machines at the station.

Csatlakozzatok hozzánk egy izgalmas téli túrára december 21-én! ❄️

Indulás:
🚉 A Nyugati pályaudvarról 8:12-kor az EC 130-as vonattal indulunk Nógrádra.
🚉 Akik Vácról szeretnének csatlakozni, az S750-es vonattal indulhatnak 8:38-kor.

Érkezés:
⏱️ Nógrádra 9:17-kor érkezünk, ahonnan a kék jelzésen túrázunk fel a Csóványos csúcsára, majd leereszkedünk Diósjenőre.

Visszaút:
🚉 Diósjenőről vonattal utazunk vissza Vácra, onnan pedig a Nyugatiba.

Táv:
📏 20 km. Az útvonal enyhe szintemelkedéssel jár, de nem különösebben nehéz.

-The group will be gathering near the ticket machines (by the international ticket office) at Déli pályaudvar (South train station). Bettina Orbán and Marcell Füzessy are the leaders of the trip.
-Bring some food and drinks for the whole day (there won’t be stops during the trip to buy these)
-Be there on time as the train departs at 7:05 and the group won’t wait for late participants! (also, calculate time for buying your country pass if you don’t have already) The group will probably get on the train around 6:55
-Wear comfortable shoes and clothing
-Don’t forget great mood at home!

Dear International Students, let me share some info about a trip with you!
The departure is on November 9th, and the 7:05 AM train (9702 express train) will depart from Déli Station (it also stops at Kelenföld).
Country pass can be used and it costs 1890 HUF. (for people under 25 years and you must keep your ID with you when travelling with this pass).
Arrival in Balatonalmádi is at 8:37 AM.
The hike is 19 km (5-6 hours depending on how much the group rests). The trip is not difficult, but there are some slight hills. There will be options to leave the group in Alsóörs and Csopak (if you get too tired to continue the trekking), but those who leave early won’t experience the full hike.

On the way, the group will visit an old quarry and some lookout points, but the route will have several beautiful panoramic sections with views of Lake Balaton.

Friends can join, regardless of whether they study at MATE or another university.

The group will return from Balatonfüred to Déli train station by train.
