Since we have started our love project, this was the very first occasion that our nice guests asked us to participate in a commone grace before dinner. And it was really heartwarming as they said thanks for their new Hungarian friends (us), the nice hospitality and the new, delicious dishes they could taste. We told them about the religious history of Hungary which has been rolled back during communism. I for instance was baptised in secret by my grandma's request, as both my parents worked for the state or local municipality and they couldn't efford to baptise their children. And we still feel the aftereffect of this Era.. 🍲🍷🇭🇺

Our guests spend more than three hours with us, while we discuss several topics. Current political situation comes up almost every time, they are interesting in Hungarian special political situation and want to inform direcly from locals. We often talk about the US and European issues, as well, and we really enjoy changing different point of views. And now, after a few hours of Hungarian elections I have got two nice messages from US which shows these discussions leave deep impressions in our guests. Well, the show must go on, and we hope, on a more democratic way. 🍲🍷🇭🇺

Close to this Christmas we had a nice couple in from Texas: Renée and Steven. They are the perfect open minded guests who would really get to know the visited country, people, their way of life or culture. This evening we also discussed about the humor of different nations. And if we understand each other's humor. I told them about the popularity of local stand up comedy, and tried to translate some punch lines of our best humorist. And it worked! We also got some links from Steven, from his favourite film "I love Lucy". That's how we spread the Hungarian culture, and come to know the foreign culture which makes us richer and more open! 🍲🍷🇭🇺

We push the boundaries.. We've got a chance from our US friend, travel agent, Angela to host a pretty big company with 18 people. Well, this was quite a challenge, as our small apartement in the town would be too small for this dinner. So we decided to invite these nice people to our real home in the suburbe. This was the biggest company we hosted ever in , but I think we nailed it!😍 Hereby I would like to say thank you for their school staff donations which we have brought to a small village in Borsod county to the local school. I really appreciate this initiation: while travelling all over the world, this nice company brings donations to the locals with the help of a local foundation or NGO. Well, in Hungary we were the "NGO" who made the Santa day of a poor village's school children happy. Angela, thanks again for this fantastic action, don't stop!🥰 🍲🍷🇭🇺

Another nice family from Texas and North Carolina, US at . We hosted the Szoka family having Hungarian roots: the granddad of Janos left Hungary as a young man at the end of XIXth century and founded a family in the US. He taught the Hungarian language to his son, but it didn't herited to the grandson, Janos. Therefore her daughter, Morgan surprised me, who decided to discover her Hungarian identity and started learning Hungarian. She has been learning it for nine month, and despite the extreme difficulty she understand pretty much and knows a lot of words. I really appreciate her persistence, as the ancestors' national identity can not herite more that 2 generations. Moreover Janos made me happy as tasting my meat soup and , as it remembered him the grandma's savours. 😍🍲🍷🇭🇺

Canning the flavours of summer! We started the preparation for winter with preserving the tasty sun-ripened Hungarian paprika and tomato. This "letso" will give the extraordinary flavour of our stew and goulash, which we are so proud of at .

Two years ago we hosted a nice couple, and it turned out that Angela, the wife is a travel agent, organizing exclusive experiences for her clients to Europe. Well, after two years her first clients visited us, two cute, open minded couples, and spent a great evening with us. They had super experiences in Budapest, except for a taxi driver asking 100 USD from a short trip in the downtown. I'm so angry with these swindlers! We are so many in tourism working hard on Hungary's country image and these bastards crush our work in a minute! But ÍI hope we could bring it back at !

We hosted a cute family with 4 adult children from Alabama, US. It was their first visit in Europe, and Budapest was their very first destination, so I hope we could contribute to their impressions with this great evening. Funny discussion topic was the local swear culture, I could proudly showcase the rich Hungarian swearing expressions which is covered in English only with one fckn word. Well, they liked the dinner, as well. 😅🍲🍷🇭🇺

Jenna and Ramon from Florida: one more proof how international is the US. Both of them have European ancestors: Czech, south Slavic, moreover Ramon found some Mongolian origin in his DNA. We made their day with my , as Jennas mom cooked it a lot, and she wanted to taste the real Hungarian version. Well, she was satisfied, indeed. 🍲🍷🇭🇺

Mark arrived from Texas to us, my ex university room mate from Huston recommended to him. (Thanks !) We talked a lot about the Hungarian language, especially the difficulty of learning it. Well, I found a map ranking the difficulty of European languages, and Hungarian is on the top with the wish "Good luck!" 😅 But did you know, that some Hungarian words got into the English, as well? As itsy-bitsy? In the Brian Hyland hit from the '60s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICkWjdQuK7Q. Here you can find the origin of this expression.
