The Faculty of Arts at the University of South Bohemia organized an international conference entitled International Teaching Practice: Teaching English, Bridging Cultures, Shaping Futures, held as part of the Erasmus+ TEFE A+ project (Teachers of English for Future Europe). Here comes the sun 🌞, and with it, a chance to begin again 🌱

☀️As the school year draws to a close and the warmth of summer approaches, Here Comes the Sun invites educators to pause, reflect, and renew. This mini-conference is a space for teachers to gently look back on the year gone by, acknowledging challenges, celebrating growth, and honouring the resilience that defines the teaching journey.

Organised by the European Mindful and Compassionate ELT Project in collaboration with Mindful EFL - APPI SIG, TESOL SPAIN, and TESOL-Hungary, this gathering aims to nurture a supportive professional community where educators can grow not only as teachers, but as mindful, compassionate individuals.🤝

The Department of English Language Pedagogy (DELP) is hosting its first TDK Meeting - a space for students interested in English Language Pedagogy research to share ideas, get inspired, and receive guidance before diving in.

The annual mentor meeting at DELP was held on April 27 this year. After Margit Szesztay's engaging warmer, the 32 participants took part in an interactive presentation held by Uwe Pohl and Zsuzsa Lengyel on teacher presence and how it can be developed. The last session of the meeting consisted of group discussions based on the participants' questions regarding ELT methodology-related courses at ELTE, the different types of teaching practicum and miscellenous issues concerning different mentoring styles and well-being. Kata Hubai, Tamara Schüszler and Ildikó Lázár moderated the discussions. We hope to keep in touch throughout the year until the next annual mentor meeting.

Annual mentor meeting 2026 The annual mentor meeting at DELP was held on April 27 this year.

Five ELTE trainee teachers have just returned form Czechia, Germany and Spain where they completed their short teaching practice between January and March within the Teaching English for Future Europe (TEFE A+) project. We organized an event where they could share their experiences with tutors and peers and inspire the four students who will go on a Blended Intensive Program to Passau, Germany in October. The BIPs within our project offer workshops to trainees in the fields of intercultural competence, global citizenship and professional teacher competence for internationalization to help them prepare for doing their teaching practicum abroad. It was wonderful to listen to the trainees' stories about schools, challenges and achievements during their teaching practice in Czechia, Germany and Spain as well as the many adventures they experienced while they stayed abroad.

Applications are now open for the Teachers of English for Future Europe Blended Intensive Programme, hosted by the University of Passau, Germany, from 5–9 October 2026.

This Erasmus+-funded short mobility programme brings together student teachers and teacher educators from across Europe to collaborate in trans-national groups, observe classes in Bavarian schools, and develop professional competences through mentoring and peer support. An optional 2-month international teaching internship will be available to BIP participants at a later stage.

This is a valuable opportunity for 3rd and 4th-year teacher trainees to gain hands-on international experience and build the competences increasingly expected of educators in contemporary European classrooms.
