How is artificial intelligence transforming healthcare? What opportunities does it create for patients and healthcare professionals, and what ethical, legal, and social challenges arise from its increasingly widespread use?

These questions were explored by participants in a panel discussion at the CEU Livable World Festival: Dr. István Peták, Gábor Dénes Award-winning physician, cancer researcher, and molecular pharmacologist; Nóra Szalóczy, AI and Data Science expert and health sociologist; and CEU CELAB researchers Judit Sándor, Péter Kakuk, and Márton Varju.

The discussion addressed the dilemmas surrounding the use of health data, the role of algorithms in medical diagnosis, and ways to ensure that innovation continues to uphold the principles of human dignity, transparency, and social justice.

Hogyan alakítja át a mesterséges intelligencia az egészségügyet? Milyen lehetőségeket nyit meg a betegek és az orvosok számára, és milyen etikai, jogi vagy társadalmi kérdéseket vet fel az egyre szélesebb körű alkalmazása?
Ezekről a kérdésekről beszélgettek a CEU Élhető Világ Fesztivál kerekasztal-beszélgetésének résztvevői: Dr. Peták István Gábor Dénes-díjas orvos, rákkutató, molekuláris farmakológus, Szalóczy Nóra AI- és Data Science-szakértő, egészségszociológus, valamint Sándor Judit, Kakuk Péter és Varju Márton, a CEU CELAB kutatói.
A beszélgetés során szó esett az egészségügyi adatok felhasználásának dilemmáiról, az algoritmusok szerepéről a diagnosztikában, valamint arról is, hogyan lehet biztosítani, hogy az innováció az emberi méltóság, az átláthatóság és a társadalmi igazságosság szempontjait is szem előtt tartsa.

Bár a hazai orvosegyetemek magatartástudományi intézeteinek etikaoktatásában megjelennek bioetikai szempontok, és néhány bölcsész-, valamint társadalomtudományi karon is foglalkoznak e területtel, kifejezetten bioetikai mester- vagy posztgraduális képzés, illetve bioetikára összpontosító kutatóhely alig található Magyarországon. (…) Ebben a tudományos és intézményi környezetben különös jelentősége van annak a lehetőségnek, amelyet a Tuboly Ádám vezette Lendület kutatócsoport kapott bioetikai kutatások végzésére és publikálására. Alongside intensive exchanges on our ongoing research, we also had the chance to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and spend time together as a team.
