I'm passionate about meeting people, exploring the cultural territory they call home, and listening to the personal stories they connect with their identities. When I truly connect with them where they are, I'm passionate about guiding them to bolder places in their minds that they have not yet dared to explore.โ€

Looking back on 2023, I can say that this personal mission has been a success.

Throughout the year, I logged over 40 flights, spanning 12 countries across 4 continents. I delivered nearly 900 hours of coaching, mentoring, training, and leadership development, often bridging different time zones.

Beyond any statistics that may be deemed impressive or not, it's the human connections that have genuinely ignited my passion. The individuals I've encountered, listened to, and had the privilege to witness continue to be my very true source of inspiration and meaningful existence.

As we step into the year ahead, I'm filled with the burning desire to grow, not just personally but as a team. Together, we aim to shape the world into the bold vision we hold in our hearts - a world of bolder leadership for a better tomorrow.

I want to thank my valued clients, trusted business partners, dedicated team members, and those who are embarking on this journey with our Bold Leadership Culture team from the very beginning of 2024.

How much are you choosing discipline over convenience?

As I wrap up my travel for the year, I find myself reflecting on the journey. This year, I've spent countless hours in airports and planes, almost feeling at home in the middle of the constant motion.

It's a lifestyle aligned with my core values of embracing diversity, connecting with people across cultures, and listening to their unique stories.

There's something liberating about feeling unrooted โ€“ it allows me to feel free, belong everywhere, and find life in every conversation and encounter. It ignites a sense of aliveness within me.

However, what comes with the excitement of travel is a challenge of maintaining balance. It's easy to neglect the routines that support other essential aspects of my life, like well-being, energy, and health.

This year, I've relearned the importance of discipline (another value I hold dear). In the hustle of boarding flights and adapting to new places, I've put efforts in staying committed to healthy eating, regular exercise, and moments of pause for self-care. In most practical sense that means: choosing new menus at well-known airports, checking out gyms at all hotels I stayed at. It's been a practice of discipline, making the best choices under varying circumstances.

I believe that choosing discipline over convenience is a metaphor for life itself. It's all too easy to opt for the easy way out, but true growth and fulfilment come from resisting the 'easy' path. As the New Year approaches, I'm ready to continue my journey, carrying these lessons with me.

To those reading: remember, staying true to your values and needs, even in the face of challenge or discomfort, is what keeps the fire of our own aliveness burning.

So, here's to flying high, with discipline as our wings!

Some conversations are crucial long before they become necessary.

So, letโ€™s champion the early exploration of coaching skills to nurture the leaders of tomorrow!

When is the perfect time to start discovering the power of coaching as the language of leadership?

I believe it begins long before you secure that desired leadership role.

Iโ€™ll go that far to argue that basic coaching skills should be introduced in elementary school, but let's focus on universities for now!

I'm excited to share that I recently had the privilege of engaging in a thought-provoking conversation with a group of eager students at Faculty of Economic and Business at the University of Zagreb (Ekonomski fakultet Zagreb).

We dived into the why, what, and how of coaching, exploring how leadership coaching and development journeys can be powerfully supported with tools like the Leadership Circle Profile.

The conversation about our development as leaders is one of those crucial ones needed long before it becomes necessary!

Kudos to Rebeka Danijela Vlahov Golomejiฤ‡ for recognising the curiosity and eagerness of her Management students, and creating an environment where exploration is encouraged!

In addition, it was a joy to revisit my postgraduate alma mater!

In the approach to supporting the implementation of change, we highlight key ground conditions for successful change:

New information must enter the system: who, what, where, when โ€“ and the new information points to why we need to change.
A sense of shared purpose โ€“ how is this going to be meaningful for me and us?
Input on how the change will occur. This provides buy-in โ€“ together, we discover how we will cross the edge of what's known and comfortable.
Everyone understands how input will be used and how decisions are made.

With every walk we take in nature, we reconnect with our essence, our boldest self. Why, then, are so many leadership development programs done within the walls of training rooms? ๐Ÿค”

Recently, my journey to Frankfurt went beyond these conventional boundaries. As we prepared for the delivery of the leadership development programme, we worked in the stillness of the outdoors, our footsteps leaving the trace in the snow. We didn't just feel the magic of nature; we became part of it.

The environment where we learn influences our growth. If we allow nature to be that influence, it may teach us about resilience, adaptability, and the beauty of being authentically ourselves. So, let's remember to step outside, both literally and metaphorically. Outside of the limits we have imposed ourselves. During the journeys into the natural world, the whispers of our authentic selves are heard most clearly. We won't just find beauty; we'll uncover the roots of our true leadership potential and receive far more than we seek.

Imagine yourself as a machine needing an operating system upgrade. Can it happen without any risk? Unlikely.

We might not be machines, but the principle holds true for us too: no growth or upgrade comes risk-free. Playing it safe can often be the greatest risk of all.
And yet, we hesitate...

Why? Because taking risks can be daunting. But remember, the most significant leaps in progress come from stepping out of our comfort zones.

So here's the punchline: Dare to upgrade! ๐ŸŒŸ

The greatest version of you awaits on the other side of fear. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Enjoy the exhilarating ride of growth, and remember, the greatest rewards often lie just beyond the boundaries of familiarity. Embrace the challenge, and witness the extraordinary transformation that awaits you!

Here's a leadership reality check: would you follow you?

Take a step back from the daily grind. Imagine youโ€™re watching a film, and youโ€™re the main character. As you observe yourself lead, ask: Do you like what you see?

Use this mental exercise to gain new perspectives. What behaviours stand out? What would you admire, and what would you change?

Ask yourself, "Would I follow me?" Why yes? Why not (yet?)

Reflect on the reasons and get curious on what they reveal. I'd love to hear about your reflections! But perhaps the key questions is โ€“ who else needs to hear about that?

Hereโ€™s a new leadership dilemma: are you a challenge-limiter or a limit-challenger?

Recently, my fitness app dropped a thought-provoking question: "Are you challenging your limits or are you limiting your challenges?" As I dived into new exercises, breaking free from a three-month routine, this question struck a chord. It made me ponder deeply about our tendency to settle into comfort zones, capping our own growth.

Comfort zones are silent growth restrictors!
We often don't realize how seductive they can be. It's like sitting in a cosy armchair that's snug until it isn't. Suddenly, what was comfortable becomes a cage!

Reflecting on this, I recalled a conversation with a client from a global engineering company. He mentioned something striking: "I'd be bored without the changes and challenges." This statement resonated. Often, we equate comfort with happiness, but it's the challenges that keep us invigorated, engaged, and evolving.

So does this sound familiar: Comfortable, Bored, Stagnating?

Because it's a common tale. Comfort leads to boredom, and boredom to stagnation. But is that the endpoint you're aiming for?

So, here's a thought for you: What are the limits you've unconsciously set for yourself? What challenges have you been avoiding? It's time to confront them. It's time to push the boundaries, to step out of the comfort zone.

Leadership isn't about staying in safe waters; it's about navigating through storms and
emerging stronger. By challenging your limits, you're not just evolving personally, but
you're setting a precedent for those you lead.
