Dear colleagues and friends,

Today everyone is aware of the terrible situation in Ukraine due to the Russian aggression. The war initiated by Russian occupants demonstrates an extraordinary violation of the essential principles of humanity, fairness and morality.

Russians attack not only military objects as they claim. Occupants blow up houses, hospitals, kindergartens, infrastructure for supporting basic communal needs, kill civilians including kids, violating the basic principles of humanity and dignity. Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernigiv, Kyiv are suffering from regular bombing, destruction and death of civilians. However, explosions and bombing can inflict pain and destruction but can provoke neither panic nor fear.

Ukrainians do their best fighting against russian occupants to protect their country, their loved ones and children. Men and women join the territorial defense, others assist in treating the wounded, donate blood, shelter refugees and do everything they can and even more. Many people found asylum at metro stations or cellars to protect their children and elderly people.

We hope for solidarity among all professional organizations and societies and believe that our united efforts will facilitate a ceasefire and peace.

It’s our pleasure to announce the 5-Day ADVANCE Workshop on ATMPs Development. The free workshop will take place virtually May 3-7th 2021 and it will be building on the knowledge of the online course on ATMPs development launched in December 2020. The agenda follows the 4 key challenges and bottlenecks of the ATMPs development cycle: Scientific, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Reimbursement/ Commercialisation. In addition, clinical aspects will also be discussed.

Participants will hear keynote lectures by experts, complete hands-on group assignments, and will get a chance to present their research projects to peers and a panel of experts in a virtual poster session.

Confirmed lecturers: Matjaz Jeras (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), Maria Cristina Galli and Lucia Gabriele (Istituto Superiore di Sanita, Italy), Helena Haque Chowdhury (Celica Biomedical, Slovenia), Luigi Aurisicchio (Takis Biotech, Italy), Concetta Quintarelli (University of Naples Federico II Naples, Campania, Italy), Barbara Bonamassa (Italian Medicines Agency, Italy), Umberto Restelli (Carlo Cattaneo University, LIUC, Italy)
