We’re thrilled to share that our senior team just had their first mentoring session with the amazing debaters from HUG EDC — right before our upcoming international tournament! 🌍🔥

It was so rewarding to share tips, stories, and encouragement with the next generation of debaters. 💪

Huge thanks to everyone who joined — mentoring today reminded us how far we’ve come and how much we can learn from each other. 💖

🌍 Celebrating the European Day of Languages at the Festival of Languages! 🎉

Today, our talented students successfully conducted the workshop “The Linguistic Landscape of Europe: Critical Reflections on Multilingualism.” during the Festival of Languages, organized by the European Commission at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.📚

Each student confidently presented their part, demonstrating excellent debating skills and deep understanding of the importance of multilingualism. Through lively discussion and thoughtful dialogue, they highlighted how linguistic and cultural diversity enriches communication, strengthens identity, and connects communities across Europe. 💬✨

🌍🗣️ We’re proud to share that our teacher and debate coach, Ms. Lokotar, recently took part in the International Youth Debate and Analytical Thinking Training for Coaches and Teachers held in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, from June 29 to July 5, 2025

This advanced training brought together experienced debate coaches and educators from across the globe — including Peru, India, the UAE, Hungary, Slovenia, and more — all united by a passion for nurturing critical thinking and persuasive communication in young minds.

👏 Our coach joined this group to further sharpen her skills in running debate clubs and mentoring future debaters — and she's bringing back a wealth of knowledge and global insights to inspire our students even more!

🎉✨ Final Day Reflections – Celebrating a Journey of Learning, Growth & Connection

As our unforgettable Erasmus+ project "Youth of Europe – Defending Dignity and Human Rights Beyond Borders" nears its end, the day before departure was filled with collaboration, creativity, and celebration. 🌍🤝

Students from Croatia and Germany worked in international teams to finalize their project work, applying all the important knowledge they gained about human rights, dignity, and active citizenship over the past days.

The culmination of their efforts was a heartwarming final ceremony, where students presented their outcomes—including a powerful video and presentations—to the staff of Johannes-Brahms-Schule Pinneberg, host families, and project partners. Each participant was awarded a certificate, marking their hard work, growth, and commitment to the values we all stand for. 🏅📽️👏

During the student preparations, our teacher and debate coach, Ms. Lokotar, held two engaging English classes for JBS students, integrating debate techniques and cross-cultural perspectives into their regular curriculum—another proud moment of meaningful exchange. 🇩🇪🇭🇷💬

The evening was truly magical, filled with emotion, laughter, and deep gratitude. Teachers and coordinators, who had been passionately planning and guiding this project throughout the 2024/2025 academic year, stood proudly as the amazing results of their work came to life.

A project that not only educated—but united, inspired, and empowered. 💙

🕊️📚 Human Rights in Focus – Workshop with Amnesty International

As part of our ongoing Erasmus+ project "Youth of Europe – Defending Dignity and Human Rights Beyond Borders," we were honored to welcome a representative from Amnesty International to our partner school, Johannes-Brahms-Schule in Pinneberg. 🇩🇪🤝🇭🇷

Held on the school’s premises, the interactive workshop focused on the daily violations of human rights—both globally and locally—and shed light on the harsh realities faced by individuals who are marginalized due to various backgrounds, including socio-economic and ethnic.

Through thought-provoking activities and discussions, students explored how inequality, discrimination, and injustice continue to challenge the principles of human dignity. The workshop sparked deep reflection and empowered students to become more aware, vocal, and proactive in defending human rights.

We are truly grateful for the professional and pedagogically engaging approach of Amnesty International’s representative, whose insights greatly enriched our understanding and added significant value to our project work. 🌍🗣️✊

🧠💙 A Powerful Lesson in Empathy – Visit to Dialoghaus, Hamburg

As part of our project, our Croatian and German students visited the inspiring Dialoghaus in Hamburg, a place dedicated to raising awareness and fostering empathy for individuals living with disabilities.

Through a profound and eye-opening workshop led by professional guides, students experienced what daily life is like for people with visual or hearing impairments. This immersive journey challenged our perceptions and expanded our understanding of the barriers that many face—often unnoticed by the wider society.

Following the experience, students engaged in a reflective debate and discussion, critically analyzing the inclusivity of our own environments and how well they respond to the needs of people with disabilities.

We are deeply grateful for this enriching experience, which impacted us not only cognitively but also emotionally. It reminded us that human rights are not just about policies—they are about dignity, inclusion, and awareness in our everyday lives.

🌿🌍 Erasmus+ Visit to Greenpeace – Raising Our Voices for the Planet

As part of our Erasmus+/eTwinning project "Youth of Europe – Defending Dignity and Human Rights Beyond Borders," students from Croatia and Germany had the unique opportunity to visit the Greenpeace headquarters in Hamburg. 🌱🇩🇪

Hosted by an expert Greenpeace representative, the group participated in an interactive workshop focused on the urgent need for environmental protection and the devastating impact of climate change on vulnerable communities and endangered wildlife.

The session shed light on how deforestation, pollution, and unsustainable practices are not only harming our ecosystems—but also violating fundamental human rights by displacing entire communities and threatening species with extinction. 🐘🌾

By coming together, sharing knowledge, and raising both awareness and our voices, we are reminded that environmental justice is human rights justice. 💬🌍✊

This visit deeply reinforced our belief that change starts with education, collaboration, and action.

🔍 Day 2 Highlights – Council of Europe & Octopus Conference on Cybercrime

Today, our Erasmus+ team had the privilege of visiting the Council of Europe, where students participated in an engaging workshop on human rights and digital safety.

A key part of the day was attending the Octopus Conference on Cybercrime, a major international event where Council of Europe members actively collaborated on shaping the future of cybercrime regulation. Students observed firsthand how experts and policymakers design frameworks to combat digital threats that increasingly endanger human rights and personal safety.

An eye-opening experience that emphasized the importance of protecting dignity—not only across borders but also across digital spaces. 💻🌐⚖️
