Erasmus days in Rijeka Croatia were great! A lot of great people, discovered organisations around us building and making world more interesting place 🥳💥 We shared our insights, inplemented ideas & experiences with GreenCode Project and enjoyed learning outside of university classroom.

Early childhood education and care can significantly enhance children’s cognitive, social and emotional growth.

The development of foundational skills early on, across cognitive, social and emotional domains, as well as executive function, which supports learning across domains, provide a basis for later development.

Adopting high-quality, evidence-based curriculum which combine care, learning and play is an important step to allowing all young children to thrive.

The new OECD report ‘Starting Strong VIII’ builds on discussions between policymakers in more than 20 countries and international researchers in child development, neuroscience, education and economics.

In August 2025, the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art at the University of Latvia hosted the GREENCODE Day, bringing together preschool teachers, principals, methodologists, and education professionals from across Latvia.

👩‍🏫 During the event, participants had the chance to:
🔹 Try out hands-on activities with educational robotics
🔹 Explore GREENCODE project materials – including the Activity Book, Handbook, Curriculum, and the Dream City Card Game
🔹 Discuss how to integrate sustainability and robotics into early childhood education

The response was very enthusiastic – teachers were excited to learn more about the Erasmus+ project GREENCODE, its goals, and to take the developed materials back to their classrooms.

IPV team presented GREENCODE results at the European Early Childhood Education Research Association conference at Bratislava. Besides the GREENCODE kit, the poster included an analysis of the work developed by the Portuguese student teachers as part of the piloting. During the poster session, we got good feedback and ideas for more develpments!

At the University of Latvia, Jēkabpils branch, the final piloting activities of the newly developed teaching materials with preservice preschool teachers took place in May 2025. 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

The students not only explored the new materials but also actively participated in hands-on training, practicing with different types of educational robotics. 🤩🤖

This was a great opportunity for future teachers to experience how robotics and eco-friendly thinking can become part of everyday preschool education. 🌍✨

On July 7th, GREENCODE Day was celebrated in Viseu, Portugal, as part of the 4th edition of SETA – the Seminar on Education, Technology, and Learning. During a vibrant and engaging session, the GREENCODE kit was presented, and participants were invited to create their own stories using the “Dream City” card set—an activity that sparked imagination and collaboration.

The session brought together educators from Early Childhood to Secondary Education, highlighting the broad relevance of the GREENCODE themes. True to its tradition, SETA provided a hands-on environment, where participants could directly interact with innovative didactical tools and explore new educational approaches.

In addition, the program featured talks and workshops on maker spaces, expanding the discussion to encompass the wider educational ecosystem and emphasising the importance of creativity, technology, and active learning across all levels of education.
