European integration process has given rise to institutional, economic, political and cultural cooperation among countries as well as their integration in a single economic system. At the same time efforts are made to preserve national identity of the member countries as well as their regional diversity. Recognition of the diversity of regions, their distinct characteristics and comparative advant
ages in a unified Europe is of utmost importance for the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union. It is therefore vital to explore and determine the underlying guidelines for the development. Since they have always been connected with the practical side of life, the polytechnics are the institutions responsible for the future development. In the last fifteen years since the establishment of the Polytechnic in Pozega, the development has been focusing on education and the application of knowledge in practice, which has distinguished the Polytechnic as an initiator and an actual development factor. In order to achieve this objective, the organisation of the International Conference entitled "Vallis Aurea" is underway. It will serve as a permanent platform for an interdisciplinary approach to resolving issues pertaining to regional development. It covers various areas ranging from theory to practical application and continued promotion based on inventiveness and regional particularities. Conference organisators are Polytehnic in Pozega, Croatia and DAAAM International Vienna, Austria.

Pojavom procesa europskih integracija dolazi do institucionalne, gospodarske, političke i kulturne suradnje između zemalja, te dolazi i do njihovog objedinjavanja zemalja u jedinstveni gospodarski sustav. Pri tome se nastoji očuvati nacionalni identitet zemalja članica kao i njihova regionalna raznolikost. U članstvu Republike Hrvatske u Europskoj uniji od izuzetnoga značenja je prepoznati različitosti regija, njihove osobitosti i komparativne prednosti u ujedinjenoj Europi. To je razlog zbog kojeg je potrebno istraživati i determinirati temeljne odrednice razvoja. Nositelj budućeg razvoja svake regije su veleučilista zbog svoje povezanosti s praktičnom životom. U proteklih petnaest godina od utemeljenja Veleučilišta u Požegi, fokus razvoja je počivao u edukaciji i primjeni znanja u praksi, što je identificiralo Veleučilište kao inicijatora i realnog čimbenika razvoja. U funkciji postizanja tog cilja organizira se International Conference "Vallis Aurea" u suradnji Veleučilišta u Požegi i DAAAM International Vienna. Ova konferencija će biti permanentna platforma za interdisciplinarni pristup rješavanja problema regionalnoga razvoja. Spektar pokriva široka područja od teorijskih do primjene u praksi i kontinuiranog unapređenja, baziranog na inventivnosti i osobitosti regija. Službeni jezik konferencije je hrvatski ili engleski. Organizatori su Veleučilište u Požegi i DAAAM International Vienna.
