The COLOURS Alliance is proud to see its Triple Transition approach, socioeconomic, green, and digital, contributing to European discussions on the upcoming Circular Economy Act.

Developed through COLOURS research and put into practice through CoLabs, Hackathons, microcredentials, and other activities, the approach connects universities, regions, communities, and policymakers to support meaningful and sustainable change.

This approach is reflected in a report on transnational and regional initiatives supporting the Circular Economy Act. Authored by Professor Dr Renata Petrevska Nechkoska from COLOURS partner university UKLO, the report explores how regional and cross-border cooperation can advance the circular economy while addressing challenges such as regulatory fragmentation, limited data interoperability, and insufficient coordination.

This achievement highlights COLOURS' contribution to European policy discussions and reinforces our commitment to circularity, sustainability, and regional impact.

After a truly eventful seven months, the buzz of students and staff across our nine universities has been replaced by a quieter summer rhythm. We are slowing down our campuses, taking time to rest, reflect, and gather new inspiration. ๐ŸŒž

We are pausing for a few weeks to recharge and prepare for everything that comes next: in Glasgow, new events, collaborations, projects, and shared achievements.

On Sunday, 26 July, our university community teamed up with Plastic Free for a fantastic beach clean-up at Bagno Medusa, proving that protecting our environment can be both meaningful and great fun!

Led by the fantastic team at Plastic Free and supported by our enthusiastic COLOURS students, the event delivered incredible results: 40 bags of waste totalling around 550 kg! Items collected ranged from plastic bottles and cigarette butts to some unusual finds, including car batteries, a radiator, and even a cashier drawer!

It was especially inspiring to see local tourists join in on the day, taking photos to spread the word and asking how to sign up for future events.

A huge thank you to Plastic Free representatives Laura, Carlo, and Riccardo for guiding this project, and to our wonderful student team, Christel, Piergiorgio, Malak, and Lorenzo, for their brilliant work on the day.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the team at Bagno Medusa lido Estensi for hosting us and keeping our volunteers refreshed. Together, we are keeping our coastlines clean and green! ๐ŸŒ
