Workin’ with the Irish- Erasmus+ project
In my third year of high school, I had a chance to travel abroad under a project Erasmus+ which gave me an opportunity to learn, meet people and explore. And I did just that.
Landing in Ireland I still couldn’t believe I was two thousand kilometers away from my home. Settling in was nice. It was in the middle of the night though because the flights took off late. But we managed. Talking to the Irish people for the first time was confusing, of course, because of the accent but after a while we got used to it and they got used to our Slavic accents too. We had a chance to experience family life in Ireland. The same was with food, daily routines, and in general just hanging out. We talked a lot so we got a chance to see each other perspectives. Ireland itself though, it’s amazing, people there are so kind at times it almost felt like a joke. At work, we were settled in groups and had to make a plan of creating a company in a span of 10 days and at the end present it. It was just a rough idea of a company but still we learned enough. Our mentor was great, he was patient and gave a good presentation every time of each task we had to do and same with helping the ones struggling with certain parts of the task. We didn’t work all the time though. In the meantime, we managed to organize some trips and activities. For example, we traveled all the way on the other side of Ireland to visit Cliffs of Moher and Galway. We had a small cliff walk trip from Greystones back to Bray, where we were settled, which I did twice. My friend also went to laser tag and bowling, which for him, was awesome.
All in all Erasmus+ project is something worth signing up for, a person can build more confidence, and sense of independence, experience other cultures and most important of all, learn.
