Our society will distribute poppies around the campus. Feel free to find the members of our society, make a donation and get a poppy😀 .
Q : People wear an artificial flower called 'Poppy' during Remembrance Day. What exactly is it? 🌷
A : The remembrance poppy is an artificial flower that has been used since 1921 to commemorate military personnel who have died in war, and represents a common or field poppy, inspired by the World War I poem 'In Flanders Field'. The remembrance poppy is especially prominent in the UK. In the weeks leading up the Remembrance Sunday, they are distributed by the Royal British Legion in return for donations to their 'Poppy Appeal', which supports all current and former British military personnel.
Q : How much should I donate? 💰
A : Donate as much as you like, or as much as you could. But to avoid any confusion or embarrassment, here is the British Legion’s guide to the suggested donations for the different types of poppies on offer: - Traditional lapel poppy with stem / stick-on version - £1.00 (approx. HKD 10)
- Round poppy car sticker - £1.00 (approx. HKD 10)
- Silk poppy with leaf and stem - £3.00 (approx. HKD 30)

聽日10am - 4pm WYK Fun Fair, 目的係俾大家 have fun 之餘，仲可以幫學校籌錢。如果可以寓娛樂於學習，除咗可以達到以上目的之外，仲可以學到有用嘅嘢，唔係唔係一舉三得？今次歷史學會分別係停車場同一樓歷史室準備咗兩個遊戲，包你同時滿足三個願望！聽日一記住黎挽下遊戲啊！😀

Q : What's Remembrance Day?😮
A : Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. It is observed on 11 November in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of World War I on that date in 1918.

Q : Hong Kong is not a Commonwealth state; why do we still observe Remembrance Day? 😮
A : After the return of sovereignty of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China, some non-governmental-organisations like the Hong Kong Ex-Servicemen's Association assist the Royal British Legion to raise funds, so as to provide assistance to ex-servicemen and women and their dependents who have been through hard times. As many of the former servicemen are ageing, the demand for assistance increases.

Hello guys! As the new academic year begins, the chairman would like to hold the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The details are as follow:

Date: 8th September (Thursday)
Time: 1230-1330
Venue: History Room (Rm 121)
All members should attend.

During the meeting, a new chairman will be elected. Members who want to join the election should form a cabinet of 3 persons (chairman and two vice chairmen) and submit an election proposal which includes the following details:

- Name, class and class no. of the electing chairman and vice chairmen.
- Policies
- Proposed Annual Plan

The proposal must be handed in at least one day before the AGM to the chairman. Should there be any enquiries, feel free to contact us through Facebook message.
