“Life at Island School is pretty good... until the exams of course. We’ve just finished all of the content in the iGCSE, so we really are just revising stuff we’ve forgotten. It’s a bit scary though -- our orals are next week, and we still keep forgetting the irregular conjugations for French, or the chengyu for Chinese!
There’s a lot of resources and material to slog through before we think we’re fully ready (honestly, will we ever be ready?), but being in a new campus is kind of a refreshing start. It’s a bit smaller, but it’s a lot closer to where most of us live, so it’s definitely more convenient.
We meet here almost every lunchtime to eat, chat and revise, which we believe is just the right amount of studying and relaxing. Although we aren’t in the same classes, being able to
talk to someone else about your own revision always helps, and just like that, we developed a friendship over our mutual hatred for exams!”

"We founded our own engineering club and we were talking about making something for the school. We tried to make a crossbow… then a bottle ramp… but none of those worked out (it did not end well). So we decided to make a go-kart. This was the first time we actually made something useful, something we could put into practice – not a random board game or a boring table.
We funded this project out of our own pockets - the body of the kart came from somewhere in Shenzhen… some other parts were from Taobao…
We were definitely a safety hazard at the school fair, where we tried to ride our go-kart. There were a lot of things wrong with our kart. The engine was never secured to the actual go-kart, so if the chain got stuck, the whole car would jerk up. We thought the engine would eventually explode. A teacher eventually banned us from riding our go-kart at the fair, but towards the end of the day, we got to ride our karts – no one died.
This kart probably got us all into uni; now two of us are engineers!"
