Miracles in the rubble
A devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey on 6 February and caused more than 33,000 deaths across Turkey and Syria. Rescue efforts have been difficult due to freezing conditions.
Miracles have kept on coming as rescuers pulled more survivors, including babies and children, from the rubble days after the disaster.
The miracle babies and children are a symbol of resilience and hope in this unrelenting disaster. Let’s hope more miracles will happen. Our thoughts and prayers are with the children and their families in Turkey and Syria.
Please see below the links to the news report, videos and photos of the miracle babies:

A newborn baby was found still tied by her umbilical cord to her mother and rescued alive from the rubble in northern Syria. Her mother died unfortunately, after giving birth to her. The baby survived miraculously. She has been named Aya, meaning “miracle”.

A two-month-old baby was rescued from the rubble of collapsed buildings after 128 hours in southern Turkey on 11 February. The baby had a strong will to survive. It tried hard to find food and was seen sucking the rescuer’s finger after being rescued. We have witnessed the perseverance and strong will in life through the story of this rescued baby.
